Disseminate people friendly initiatives : Omar to NC

GNS Jammu, April 10 – Describing J&K National Conference as a fortress of public aspiration, communal amity, solidarity and equitable development of all regions of the State, J&K National Conference Working President and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Tuesday asked the party rank and file to render selfless service to the people to mitigate their difficulties and help coalition government to carry forward development agenda with firmness and determination. Addressing the Provincial Working Committee of J&K National Conference, Jammu province at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan here, Omar Abdullah said that J&K National Conference has always stood for the cause of people of Jammu and Kashmir and history bears testimony to the struggle spearheaded by J&K National Conference for empowerment of common man. “Our endeavour in this direction would continue”, he said adding that J&K National Conference and Congress share the ideology of secular democracy and equitable development.

Youth centerpiece of our agenda: Mufti Srinagar neglected by present government

GNS Srinagar, April 10 :::    Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has said  youth would have to assert their power to bring in a systemic change in Jammu & Kashmir that has suffered as result of   the subversion of democratic processes. Addressing a large number of civil society members here today he urged the professionals, lawyers, students, teachers and other sections of civil society to realize their role as agents of fundamental change and contribute to deliverance of Jammu & Kashmir from its difficulties. He said most of our problems flowed from inability of democratic process to take root in the state and the shyness and cynicism that was caused as the result of this among the people helped only the political vested interest. R-APDRP- central government unhappy with state, says review implementation

By Tahir Mushtaq GNS JAMMU, Apr 10 : Central government has expressed its unhappiness over the slow pace of implementing Restructured-Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) in 30 identified town of the state to take measures to lower the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses.  Sources said that Union Power Ministry had sanctioned nearly Rs 1700 crore to the government under R-APDRP in October last year and the first amount of Rs 119 crore was released to cover identified townships to strengthen the grid stations, transmission lines and feeders.  If sources are to be believed most of the funds have not been utilized to cap the losses, but diverted towards other areas forcing the centre to ask the state to follow the guidelines set for the implementation of the project.  The project was cleared by the Steering Committee of the Union Ministry of Power, which was to be implemented in two parts (A&B) to cover towns having population than 10,0
