Rani Billoria elected unopposed as MLC


GNS Jammu, Feb, 21:- Rani  Billoria who was elected unopposed as Member Legislative Council  elected today, warmly welcomed at the PCC HQ. Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu by the party workers.
Billoria  declared elected after the last date of withdrawal by the returning officer, soon thereafter she visited the party headquarter along with party workers. She was welcomed at the party HQ. by the senior leaders of PCC and Mahila leaders. A function was held to celebrate the unopposed election of MS Billoria.
The function was presided over by S.Gurmukh Singh Ex-Minister and Vice President PCC,  which was attended by Sham Lal Sharma Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, MLC  G.N. Monga-Vice President PCC, MLC Ravinder Sharma-General Secretary & Chief Spokesperson PCC,  Gulam Nabi Mir Lasjan-General Secretary PCC, Ex-Mayor Narinder Singh,  Shiv Kumar Sharma-President INTUC, S.R.Sudhir, Working President DCC Jammu Urban D.S.Langeh, MS Lalita Sharma, B.B.Gupta, Mian Nazir Ahmed, Sarbjit Singh, H.S.Mehta, Ravi Singh Salathia, Narinder Gupta, Sanjay Dhar, Smt. Padmani Langeh,  Smt. Prabha Salathia,  Raj Rani Bakshi, Pritam Singh Jamwal and  Sita Devi.
Addressing the gathering MS Billoria thanked the Party High Command for giving her a chance to serve the people. She said that she would serve the people and congress party with more devotion and dedication. She said that her loyality and services towards the party have been recognized in the party and expressed her gratitude to the Central and State leadership of the Congress party.
Speaking on the occasion Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Shri Sham Lal Sharma urged party workers to gear up for the ensuing elections  to the Corporations and Local Bodies and strengthen the party at the grass root level. The Congress party is a strong force in the state and there is need to further activate the cadres, he said. He welcomed the decision of the Party High Command for the selection of qualified and experienced leaders for the Upper House.
S. Gurmukh Singh-Vice President PCC in his presidential address welcomed the decision  of the party leadership to choose a woman for the Upper House, which is well deserved representation. PCC General Secretary Vinod Sharma met Div. Com. Apprised about the problem of electric supply in Jammu city.

 GNS  Jammu , June 05:  A deputation led by PCC General Secretary Mr. Vinod Sharma met the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and apprised him about the problem of electric supply in Jammu city. Mr. Sharma said that there are long cuts in the electric supply in the urban areas of Jammu especially in Jammu East and Jammu West. He said that the children and old aged are falling ill due to long cuts in electric supply during scorching heat. He said that the scheduled fixed by the department for power cuts i.e three hours for metered areas and eight hours for non metered areas stands no were. There are long scheduled and unscheduled power cuts and people are facing great hardships. Divisional Commissioner Jammu gave patient hearing to the deputation and assured them that he will look into the matter personally and keep in touch with the concerned authorities for regular supply of electricity. Kashmir gets high security number plates

GNS Jammu, June 11:  Jammu and Kashmir today began fixing tamper proof number plates on vehicles in line with an apex court order. The number plates will have a unique identification to allow the transport department to retrieve all details of any vehicle. According to Regional Transport Officer Virender Slathia, the process started in Jammu and Srinagar while other districts would follow later. Slathia said the number plates will be visible up to 150 metres and will glow at night. Initially the plates are being fitted only on new vehicles. "We will fix 150-200 plates daily on new vehicles while the plates on old vehicles will be replaced on dates to be notified later," said the officer. Jammu and Srinagar cities have approximately half a million vehicles each plying on their streets. Slathia cautioned that it would be impossible to fix new number plates on all vehicles in the state within two months as directed by the apex court. The company installing plate
