Shimla-based Jammu girl outshines in NIFT with 25-rank in the country.

                                                  GNS JAMMU JUNE 01 :Akshita Sharma, daughter of Jammu-born journalist  Ashwani Sharma ,a special Correspondent of the Indian Express at Shimla, has cracked National  Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) exam getting overall 25-rank in the  final list declared on Tuesday evening. Earlier in her written test for the NIFT she had ranked 6th in the merit  list .After her situation test---where she was asked to create a scene of  circus /fashion show based on certain products and items given,she excelled  among nearly 10,000 students securing 21st position in her general merit  category. Baig calls for judicial probe into LJHP canal breach

GNS Srinagar June, 1: Calling for a judicial probe into the massive breach in the Lower        Jehlum Hydel Project (LJHP) canal Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said it resulted from government’s policy of cronyism in allotment of development work. In a statement issued here today senior PDP leader and former deputy chief minister Muzaffar Hussein Baig said there was an urgent need to probe the breach in LJHP canal that has been recently ‘repaired’ reportedly at a cost of Rs 27 crores. The probe should be conducted by a sitting judge in view of the substantial loss to the state involved in it, he said. He said reports suggested that the breach that has resulted in the closure of LJHP was costing the state an additional Rs 44 lacs everyday on account of production loss.
