GNS :Jammu : Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Tuesday approved the appointment of 347 Junior Engineers in R&B Department to speed up the construction and upgradation of road communication in backward and remote villages of the State. The selection of these engineers was made by the State Service Selection Recruitment Board some time back but the process of appointments was pending owing to litigations in the courts. The Chief Minister had directed the concerned departments to pursue the matter vigorously in the courts to clear the deck for appointments of these engineers. This resulted in the prompt settlement of court cases and the Chief Minister today signed the appointment proposal of these engineers. Omar Abdullah also approved launch of 535 road schemes under PMGSY in the State at a cost of over Rs. 1216 crore.
