People protest against the killing of youth and girl critical injured in Rajouri.Advocate untraced after hitting bike

GNS RAJOURI : In a filmy style after chasing the bike on which a youth and a girl were riding, another youth, an advocate by profession, allegedly hit the motor-cycle twice killing one of them on the spot and causing critical injuries to another in Rajouri town here last night.
The public and relatives of the deceased youth Mohd Tahir (19) and critically injured girl-Lubna Kouser (23), staged protest demonstration at Gujjar Mandi  and blocked road for about two hours demanding arrest of the accused, Imtiaz, son of Mohd Ashraf, a District Youth Congress leader and younger brother of  Iftikhar Ahmed a senior leader of NSUI and newly elected  chief  election commission of  Indian Youth National Congress.
They demanded that a murder case be registered against the accused and two others sitting with the prime accused in the vehicle (Mahindra Xylo). They alleged that police only registered a case of hit and run and failed to arrest the accused despite the fact that it all happened in the full public view and the bike riders were intentionally hit twice and even abused by Imtiaz and other two, whom the girl has identified.
SSP Rajouri Mr Samyal who personally visited the spot assured that FIR No. 20/2012 U/S 307 was converted into 302 RPC against the accused. He said no body was above law and action under law of the land will be taken against the accused.
The incident took place at around 9.15 pm when Mohd Tahir and Lubna Kouser were returning home on a bike after dropping one Neeraj Kumar at his residence on the outskirts of the town. Neeraj works in the shop of Ms Kouser, daughter of Mohd Afzal Khan.
In the absence of father, daughter was looking after the shop for the last some time. After crossing Salani bridge near a temple, the vehicle hit the bike. Both of them fell down. The vehicle again hit the bike, killing Mohd Tahir on the spot. The accused then fled from the spot despite raising alarm by public.
He could not be traced even during the night and the day today. The people alleged that police failed to intercept vehicle and nab boys despite the fact that message was immediately flashed.
The girl was removed to district hospital where doctors referred her to GMC Jammu. She was struggling for life with multiple injuries. Mohd Taj, uncle of the girl told Excelsior that as per eye-witnesses and girl, the boys in Xylo vehicle were seen chasing the bike even when they were going to drop Neeraj.
They were abusing continuously while chasing and threatening them. They hit the bike twice to ensure the murder of the both and escaped from the spot. He said using Congress influence, the family was trying to save the accused, who is a lawyer. Local police was responsible for his escape.
