Jammu will soon get 40 km-long four-lane bypass


GNS JAMMU :The winter capital will soon get a 40km-long four-lane bypass built at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore to help ease traffic congestion.
The Samba-Jammu southern bypass project, to be built at a cost of Rs 2,000 crore, is in offing to deal with traffic congestion and provide better transport facility,
Minister of State for Road and Buildings Javed Ahmad Dar said here.
The road, starting from Raya Morh in Samba district on Pathankot-Jammu National Highway will touch the villages of Bishnah, R S Pura border town, while Diyaren village in Jammu will be its last point.
The land survey of the project has already been completed, he said. Divisional Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners will start early acquisition process of the land coming under the project, he said.
As many as 15 small and major bridges will be constructed to complete the first phase of the project, the Minister said.
The second phase of the road will be extended up to Nagrota for which another 20-km road would be constructed to connect Pathnkot-Jammu national highway with Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Nagrota via R S Pura and Akhnoor.

Govt. to conduct scientific study of the traffic management in J&K

Sources said that some private consultants are being hired by the Transport Department to do a detailed study of traffic pattern, road use and ways to deal with the jams at peak hours.
