Kissan Advisory Board meet held


GNS JAMMU, JULY 25–The members of  J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans today stressed for establishment of Seed Bank in the state for the benefit of the farmers. 
The demand was raised at meeting of the Board chaired by its Vice Chairman Mr. Rachpal Singh and attended by Additional Commissioner, Jammu, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, Jammu, Director Agriculture Jammu, Director Horticulture Jammu, Director Sericulture Jammu, Director Fisheries Jammu, Director Floriculture Jammu, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu, Director Extension SKUAST Jammu and the Secretary of the Board participated in the meeting.
Threadbare discussion were held on issues of availability of Hybrid fertilizer, seeds, installation of cold storage facilities and canning centres to the farmers.
The members of the Board stressed for establishment of Seed Bank in the State for the benefit of the farmers. The Vice Chairman stressed that the benefit of Government schemes meant for improving development of agriculture and production should reach the farmers well in time. He asked the concerned authorities to ensure timely supply of fertilizers, high yielding seeds besides farming equipments in all the areas so that farmers would not face any inconvenience during the kharief and rabbi crop season.
Mr. Rachpal instructed concerned officers to submit the proposals for welfare of farmers to the Board well in time so that same can be taken up with the Government for early approval.
The meeting was informed that Kissan Bhawan is coming up at an estimated cost of  Rs.5.00 crore at Talab Tillo, Jammu.

Omar’s crusade against corruption

                 DVOs themselves have cases pending against them or under investigation By Sunny Sangral   GNS JAMMU, : At a time when Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is making tall claims of fighting corruption in Jammu and Kashmir through State Vigilance Organisation (SVO), there are several Department Vigilance Officers (DVO)s against whom cases of corruption are pending.  This has been relived by a RTI filed by a activist recently.  As per the reply of the state government, M.
