After remaining closed for two decades since militancy erupted in Kashmir Valley, a historical shrine dedicated to dead children will be reopened with a special puja marking 'Shravan Shuklapaksh Dashmi'. Kapal Mochan shrine, where where rituals connected to deaths of unmarried children are performed was closed at the peak of militancy in the Valley in the 90's Located at Digam village in Shopian belt of South Kashmir, the shrine will see ancient rituals like 'Abhishek' and 'Shudikaran' of Kapilashwar lingam being performed beginning from Friday.
"The shrine is being revived after two decades. Ancient rituals, including a 'maha yagh', will be performed to observe Shravan Shuklapaksh Dashmi tomorrow," Rohit Lahori, senior member of Kapal Mochan organising committee, said.
