J&K football team beat Mohun Bagan 4-2 in second friendly


                        

GNS JAMMU SEPT 11: After losing their first match, the Jammu and Kashmir XI on Tuesday turned the tables on Mohun Bagan, defeating the Kolkata-based football club 4-2 via penalty shoot-out in the second goodwill match.

The match was organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and J&K Football Association.
The final score of the exciting match was tied at 1-1. A penalty shootout ensured victory for the hosts with three goals while the visitors could struck only one at the GGM Science College grounds.
Earlier, during their first match on Saturday, the hosts had suffered a disappointing 0-4 defeat in Srinagar.
"Today is red letter day for the football team of Jammu and Kashmir as we defeated Mohun Bagan," said R S Chib, Minister for Youth Services and Sports.
The Minister congratulated the wining team for its outstanding performance and said that the motive of organising the match was to promote sports culture in the state.
He said such events are being organised in the state with the efforts of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Union Sports Ministry.
J&K players urged chief minister to look into the problems of footballers in the state.
"We have improved and today we defeated Mohun Bagan, one of the best teams in the country," a member of the J&K team told reporters.
Chib presented trophy to the winning team besides distributing medals to the players of both the sides.
In an effort to encourage the players, J&K Bank announced a cash award of Rs one lakh for the winning team and Rs 20,000 for captain Vikram Jeet Singh for his outstanding performance.
Besides, the J&K Sports Council also announced a cash prize of Rs one lakh for the winning team.

6321 kanals of land transferred to CUs for creation of infrastructure: Malik

GNS JAMMU MAR,01 :Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik today informed the Legislative Assembly that about 4641 kanals and 4325 kanals of land has been indentified for the establishment of the Central Universities at Jammu and Kashmir respectively, out of which 3000 kanals and 3321 kanals stands transferred to these Universities. He said the process of transferring the remaining land is in progress. The Minister was replying to question of Mr. Yashpal Kundal in the House. Govt. to conduct scientific study of the traffic management in J&K

By Tahir Mushtaq (TNI) GNS JAMMU, : With Management of rising vehicles become a nightmare for the administration in the rapidly growing urban centers of Jammu and Kashmir, government has decided to formulate a comprehensive City Transport Policy for scientific management of the vehicles. Sources said that some private consultants are being hired by the Transport Department to do a detailed study of traffic pattern, road use and ways to deal with the jams at peak hours.
