PYC demanded Jammu and Kashmir should be empowered by bringing 73rd and 74th Amendment in the Panchayati Raj Act.


GNS Jammu-September 29 :Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Youth Congress held a strong protest demonstration  and tried to block the Tawi bridge Jammu today to press their demand  for giving powers  and security to Panchayats .
The protest was led by Mr. Chetan Pratap Singh Chouhan-Secretary IYC, incharge J&K affairs, PYC  President Mr. Shah Nawaz Choudhary, Vice President Pranav Shagotra, PYC General Secretaries S.Manjeet Singh Jatt Mr. Abid Kashmiri and  Jammu- Poonch Lok Sabha President Satish Sharma .
The thousands  of activist of youth Congress assembled at Press Club Jammu  today morning and started march towards Tawi Bridge. They tried to sit on the bridge , disrupt the traffic and register their protest in a befitting manner. Police tried to stop them and scuffled with the youth congress activists. Police lathi charged in which many youth Congress activists  were  injured and several others arrested.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Chauhan and other Youth Congress leaders of the State  said that Powers to the Panchayats is the policy of Congress party, therefore PYC is organizing various rallies and marches in support of their demand. Panchayats without powers are teeth-less and defunct.
Speaking on the occasion PYC President Shah Nawaz Choudhary said that Chief Minister is responsible for the killings of Sarpanches in Kashmir and it is murder of democracy. He warns Chief Minister to either  give powers to Panchayats or resign.
Mr. Pranav Shagotra in his address  said that the power is given to the Panchayats throughout the country by bringing 73rd and 74th amendment in the Panchayat Raj Act, but it is apparent by remarks of CM , that he doesn’t want to implement it in J&K.
Youth Congress leaders  further said that  Panchayats are the basic institutions of democracy and AICC General Secretary incharge Youth Congress Shri Rahul Gandhi  is keen to strengthen these institutions in all parts of the Country. Adding that Youth Congress will remain on forefront in this noble cause.
They demanded  in strong words that Panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir should be empowered by bringing 73rd and 74th Amendment in the Panchayati Raj Act. 
Later Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-din –Hon’ble Minister for PHE and Shri Raman Bhalla-Hon’ble Minister for Revenue also visited to  Poilice Lines Jammu to meet the  arrested  youth congress activists.
Other youth congress leaders who participated in the demonstration includes S/Shri Kamaljit Singh- Charanjit Singh, Vinay Sharma, Assembly Presidents Wasim Kohli, Jatinder Chib, Khushwant Singh, Vijay Magotra, Manjit Singh, Balbir Singh, Satinder Kumar, Ajaz Choudhary, Vinod Kumar, Sahil Sharma, Hoshiar Singh Chib, Manjot Singh, Ricky Dalotra, Neeraj Kumar, Manjit Singh Sarkaria, Dayal Singh, Rohit Shjarma, Lucky Singh,, Shabir Kohli, Karanjit Singh, Abhisheikh Koshil,  Ajay Kumar, Neeraj Kundan, Abijot Singh, Sidharth  Pathania, Aman Thapa and others.
