Gandhi ji an apostle of peace and a staunch believer of non-violence: Vakil Vakil reiterated his demand of setting up of an independent inquiry commission to probe allegations being leveled against some of the vital government departments
GNS Srinagar October 02: Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today reminded the people of the sacrifices and struggle Mahatma Gandhi spearheaded for creating a society full of values and based on justice. Vakil recalled Mahatma Gandhi's contributions to the struggle for the achievement of freedom from the colonial yoke, his sustained campaign against social injustice, racism and suppression of the under-privileged sections and his unending pursuit for the establishment of a truly secular and a harmonious society.
He described Gandhi ji as an apostle of peace and a staunch believer of non-violence whose sacrifices and teachings are indelibly imprinted on the global conscience. He said that at this juncture, the most befitting tribute to the Father of Nation would be to re-invigorate and strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity secular ethos, and to uproot every type of terrorism which is the essence of Gandhian values and philosophy.
Mr. Vakil was paying glowing tributes at the function organized by Sevadal Congress in Leper Colony Zadibal Srinagar today. Calling people to shun violence and follow path of love and mutual coexistence, Vakil said that conflicts have always resulted in disasters while as mutual love has strengthened pillars of humanity. He said that Mahatma Gandhi was a symbol of positive approach of the life, therefore, his philosophy has become universal and people are adopting his ideology to shape their destiny and make themselves symbols of love and brotherhood.
On the occasion, he appealed separatist leadership to shun abhorrence and come to the table, if they really want a solution to the present crisis so that the people get rid of the miseries they are facing. Vakil said that if Hurriyat continues to shy away from dialogue then many corrupt elements who are looting people and taking advantage of uncertainty will get encouraged and will continue looting the state exchequer by adopting wrongful means, thereby increasing chances of complete paralysis of administrative machinery across the state,"
He reiterated his demand of setting up of an independent inquiry commission to probe allegations being leveled against some of the vital government departments He regretted silence of the state government over the reports of scams appearing in leading local and national dailies.
Ex Minister and MLC Jugal Kishore also paid rich tributes Mahatma Gandhi and said said Gandhi Ji symbolized the secular and democratic India. Mr. Sharma reminded the people of the sacrifices and struggle Gandhi Ji spearheaded for creating a society full of values and based on justice. He said the best way to remember Gandhi Ji and pay homage to him is to follow his principals and help to create comfortable society for all to nurture and develop in a democratic and a secular atmosphere.
Others who paid glowing tributes to the Father of Nation include MLC Mohammad Amin Bhat, MLC Naresh Gupta, Sr. Sevadal Congress leaders Irfan Naqib, Imtiyaz Ahmad Khan. All the leaders visited the rooms under construction for leprosy patients and expressed concern that it has not been completed yet since foundation stone was laid by Former Prime Minister of India Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. They demanded immediate construction of these rooms as the poor people are suffering due to lack of accommodation
