GNS JAMMU, FEB 1 , 2013: As Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) presented fifth chargesheet in MBBS-BDS impersonation scam involving kith and kin of politicians, a senior National Conference (NC) leader and a former minister Ram Pal today appeared in the court and procured bail.
After completion of investigation, fifth chargesheet was today filed in the court of Special Municipal Magistrate Jammu by Inspector B B Sharma, Investigating Officer of the case, official reports said.
The first chargesheet of the case was filed on August 28, 2012 in the Court of Special CBI Magistrate (CJM) Jammu.
Nine persons including Ram Pal son of Ram Rakha, his son Lovish Bharat, Vandana Sagotra and Chander Kanta Sagotra both daughters of Sain Das, Shahzeb son of Mohammad Khatib of Bareli Uttar Pardesh, Shanawaz Hussain son of Bashir Ahmed of Bathindi, Mohammad Aziz of Narwal (Jammu) and Abdul Mubeen son of Hifizullah of Lucknow were arrayed as accused. The ninth accused Barun Kumar was not present against whom non-bailable warrant was issued by the court.
Municipal Magistrate Jammu, B S Bhau, after hearing senior Public Prosecutor SK Bhat appearing for the CBI and the counsels of accused, granted bail to all to the tune of Rs 25,000 each.
Next date of hearing in the case has been fixed on February 4, 2013.
It is notable to mention here that on August 21, 2010 Invigilators of Jammu University detected few impersonators appearing in the examination of MBBS and BDS of ASCOMS Sidhra for influential candidates. The case was registered in Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu vide FIR number 177 of 2010 under section 419 and 420 RPC and under section 2/5 PUE Act of 1987. The state government vide notification under SRO 314 dated August 25, 2010 had handed over the case to CBI.
Name of senior congress leader and former minister GM Saroori also figured after his kin was allegedly also caught in same scam but CBI later gave him clean chit.
Official sources said that at-least one more charge sheet will be filed by the CBI in the court as investigation in the case is still on.
