GNS Jammu, May 03: The National Secular Forum (NSF) University Unit today held strong protest demonstration against the Centre/ State Govt. for next Director General of the J&K Police be appointed from J&K Cadre only.
Addressing a gathering here today, NSF president Dr Vikas Sharma said, "A local officer who has experience of serving in the state is most suitable for the post of DGP. The incumbent DGP Kuldeep Khoda being the J&K Cadre officer and also local has done remarkable job in containing militancy."
Due to the experience and knowledge of the local sensibilities, Mr. Khoda has done commendable job during the past five years. The state is passing through a crucial transition phase i.e. from violent to peaceful atmosphere. Under this circumstance, it is required to appoint next DGP from among the J&K Cadre officers. There are two officers from 1984 batch. Both of them possess loads of experience to have grip over the situation in J&K.
Sharma demanded from the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister to appoint only a J&K Cadre officer on this most important post so as to maintain peace in this state. He
apprehended that if the Home Minister fails in appointing local as new DGP than NSF will continue protest against UPA-Govt.
