GNS SRINAGAR May 01 Former Minister and member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today appealed labor class to come forward and play its important role for eradicating corruption from the society as it has made the life of the poor people miserable and the poor man especially labor class cannot get justice unless this dangerous evil is uprooted from the society. Mr. Vakil also sought cooperation from all sections of the society to help in uprooting this evil deep rooted impact on the society. Mr. Vakil was addressing a rally today at samba which was organized by samba labor union on the occasion of Labor Day which was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm.
Expressing concern over growing rampant corruption in the state Mr. Vakil stressed upon the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take drive against corruption to its logical conclusion. No doubt he has taken number of initiatives and if he takes up this fight against corruption with utmost sincerity, he would not only make name for himself but also will help the state in taking a giant leap forward against corruption.
He demanded independent commission to probe into disproportionate assets of the politicians and bureaucrats and expressed concern that the politicians and bureaucrats against whom complaints are pending in the State Accountablity Commission have made the commission defunct by getting stay orders from the high court. There is no alternative except setting up of an independent commission to probe into the disproportionate assets of ministers, ex. ministers, and other public servants across the board. “Congress cannot be silent on corruption issue” and it is the dream of the Sonia Gandhi to see Jammu and Kashmir peaceful and corruption free State Vakil added.
Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil while paying glowing tributes to those who sacrificed their lives to regulate working hours create conducive working conditions and protect economic interests of the working class. Vakil said that the real tribute to the martyrs is to fight against corruption which is eating into the vitals of the society and to create program of action by all unions to force the government to implement labor laws and ensure that their right to protest and their voice is not stifled. He stressed upon the labor class to intensify their struggle against the onslaught on their rights and livelihood in the form of mass scale job losses, lay-off, closure, wage cut etc.
Addressing the gathering Vice President INTUC Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma stressed upon the Chief Minister to fulfill his commitment of absorbing fifty thousand youth in different departments. No doubt the Coalition Government has done a lot in creating a peaceful atmosphere in the state and take the developmental process ahead but much is to be done for the youth by creating jobs for them in various departments so that they are not disappointed and cannot be exploited by those who are bent upon to weaken the coalition government by creating uncertainty in the state. He demanded immediate regularization of those casual labors working for so many years in various departments. Laborers are the pillars of the society. if their interests are not safeguarded, the country will definitely not go ahead in various sectors whose survival totally dependent on the labor class.
Besides others who addressed the gathering include District President Labor Cell Congress Gambhir Singh Sambyal, and Senior Labor Leaders Sita Ram Sapolia, Dewan Chand Sharma, Brijesh Sharma and Chaudhary Anwar.

When the holy Quran was placed before Mohammed Maqbool Butt on the morning of February 11,

When the holy Quran was placed before Mohammed Maqbool Butt on the morning of February 11, 1984, he knew that death awaited him in the phansi kothi a few yards away. A high voltage bulb burning outside the grated doors of his solitary cell in the death row was indicative of the outside darkness. If he had had any hopes of living awhile yet, they were dashed by the presence of the” prison doctors. Jail superintendent, A.B. Shukla/had paid Butt a visit in the middle of the previous night. Shukla chatted with him for a long time but cautiously avoided any talk about the execution. “I will see you on Monday”, Butt’s counsel on record, the sallow-complexioned R.C. Pathak, had told him during a brief interview they were allowed on the evening of February 10. In answer, the condemned Kashmir Liberation Front leader, who was awarded the death sentence of the murder of a CID officer in 1966, had meaningfully remarked: “Do you think they will permit us a second meeting?” He was right! Butt was n...

GNS RAJOURI : The way opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by former JK Chief Minister and erstwhile union home minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayed has been emerging as a force in the border region of Poonch , Rajouri, is really a worrying situation for Congress and National Conference . It would be much better to say that the situation if more threatening for NC as compared to Congress as the region has always been strong belt of the former for decades . The latest example is the entry of Chowdhary Qamer Hussain of Rajouri in the party fold who was earlier associated with Congress and had contested on Congress ticket from Rajouri in 2002 assembly elections , but had finished second at  that time . Qamar is not alone in the region who joined PDP in the past some months, National Conference has already received a big loss by loosing its influential cadres in Poonch district . The example is the entry of Shah Mohammad Tantray and Shehzaad Ahmed Khan of Poonch in to PDP  No...
