Srinagar, MTT News Desk: Kashmir complete shutdown was observed to mark the commencement of Martyrs Week to remember the Kashmiri martyrs including those 122 innocent youth who were shot dead by armed forces during mass uprising in the territory in 2010.
Call for observance of the Week had been given by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani. All shops, business establishments, educational institutions, banks and courts remained closed while traffic was off the road.
The authorities had placed APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani and other senior hurriyat leaders including, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Zafar Akbar Butt under house arrest.
