Politics of PDP is not only to attain Power: Baigh Credibility of State Govt reached to lowest ebb due to mis-governance and trust deficit: Mufti


GNS Poonch, September 01: Patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said prevailing chaos and uncertainty in the State were result of the failure of the present regime headed by National Conference to connect itself with the common masses. He said that the credibility of the government has reached at its lowest ebb because this regime has lost faith of the people.
“From the day one when this government was formed, there is instability and uncertainty in the State”, Mr Sayeed said while addressing an impressive public meeting which was organized  here in connection with the foundation day function of the party.
“Prevailing anarchy and chaos in the state is result of the failure of the system”, he said and made a reference towards remark of Cabinet on Security (CCS) which pointed out, during the summer unrest in 2010 that trust deficit and governance deficit as main reasons of alienation of the people.  “The situation which was prevailing in the State in 2008 and 2010, is still persist because the government has failed to bring transparency and accountability in the system”, he said and termed the present regime has worst ever corrupt government in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. 
 “Although the corruption has been sneaked into the government from top to bottom, the anti-graft institutions like State Accountability Commission (SAC) have deliberately make non functional by the State Government”, he observed and reiterated demand of PDP that  SAC should be equipped with an independent investigating agency to ensure proper investigation of the cases against higher ups.
PDP patron said that corruption has become a big issue in the whole country and a war against corruption has already launched in the country. He supported the demand of Lok Pal raised by social activist Anna Hazare.
Terming present government as directionless coalition, he said that just to grab the power, National Conference and Congress has entered into an alliance without forming Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and without evolving consensus on vital issues. He mentioned that both the coalition partners speaking in different tones on many important issues.
 He opined that formation of CMP was must for running a coalition regime and recalled that that despite having just 16 members in its kitty PDP had entered into an alliance with Congress after senior leadership of the Congress high command including Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, who was at that time leader of the opposition, had formulated the CMP and incorporated main demands of the PDP in it.
Emphasizing on the need of solving vexed Kashmir problem for the lasting peace in this region, he maintained that dialogue was the only way to solve all problems peacefully. “Political parties of the country have to realize that solution of Kashmir problem is must for the lasting peace in this region”, he said.
Referring to the historical steps taken by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 2003 during his visit to Kashmir, Mr Sayeed reminded that bold steps were taken at that time when forces of both the countries were in eyeball to eyeball position following the attack on the Parliament. He said that announced made by Atal Behari Vajpayee on April 18, 2003 at Srinagar was one of the bold steps because he had extended hands of friendship towards Pakistan at that time.
He, however, expressed his concern over lack of progress in the peace process pioneered by his party and implemented during PDP-Congress regime.
He regretted that that announcements regarding communication facilities to the traders engaged in cross LoC trade and other step to boost this trade still remained only on papers. He further emphasized that besides initiating steps to boost cross LoC trade, facility of visiting both sides of LoC should not be confined only to divided families. “There should be free movement of people from both sides of Kashmir”, he demanded. Terming opening of points on LoC as most significant CBM since 1947, Mr Sayeed that opening of Uri-Muzafferabad and Poonch-Rawlakote roads has liberated people of Jammu and Kashmir from seize which they had been facing after partition of the country.
While reminding the people about steps taken by the PDP regime to complete work on Mugal road, he told the people that Poonch would be soon emerged as “Gateway of Kashmir” and this belt would be a biggest business centre of this sub-continent. He reminded that during the regime of PDP-Congress various steps were taken for the development of this land locked border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.
Speaking on the occasion, former Deputy Chief Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baigh said that that PDP had scripted a new chapter of peace and development in the State. He said that July 28, 1999 was landmark in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir because PDP was formed on that day and this party has revived people’s faith in the democratic institutions.  “Politics of our party is not only to attain power. Aim of our party is to restore lasting peace in this region and to establish a system where every section of the society would get justice and equal opportunities for development and economic growth”, he said and pointed out that during its short span of three years PDP led regime had carved out a path of peace and development in the state.
“We can topple this government within no time”, he said and added disclosed that after 2010 summer unrest PDP had opportunity to get the power back. “We don’t want to attain power by such tactics. We will get power with the support of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said.
Terming Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as a statesman,  Baigh said that under the leadership of Mufti Sayeed, PDP, in a short span of time, has earned faith and credibility of the people. He said that three year tenure of the PDP led regime was historic period in the political history of the State because that government had succeeded in involving people in the governance.
Pointing towards prevailing mess in the State, Baigh said that during the three and half  years ruling elites in the state have siphoned off whopping amounts sanctioned by the Centre for various poverty alleviation schemes in the State. “It is all due to the rampant corruption in the state that woes of poor have been mounting and funds sanctioned for their betterment and upliftment are being pocketed by those who are at the helm of the affairs”, he said.
Baigh further said that during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, central government had sanctioned an amount of Rs 32000 crore under Prime Minister Reconstruction Plan but the present government has failed to properly utilize the same amount.

PDP emerged a force in Twin border District of Poonch , Rajouri

GNS RAJOURI : The way opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by former JK Chief Minister and erstwhile union home minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayed has been emerging as a force in the border region of Poonch , Rajouri, is really a worrying situation for Congress and National Conference .
