CRPF personnel went on rampage in University campus beat people, arrested a scholar and a post graduate student

GNS Srinagar, March 07,: CRPF personnel went on a rampage in Mirzabagh residential campus of Kashmir University on Thursday and arrested a Scholar and the son of University employee. “It is for the first time that CRPF personnel dared to enter into the premises of University despite the fact that University has its own Force supervised by a Dy SP,” University official told .The Scholar identified as Basharat Ahmed (P.hd Environmental Science) and the other youth were lodged in Police station Nigeen where top University officials reached to sort out the matter. “We are on it and trying to find out under which circumstances the Scholar and other youth was arrested and why they were beaten. I am right now in Police Station Nigeen and can’t comment about the incident,” Proctor Prof Mohammad Ayoub told and adding that they were picked from the residential quarters which is guarded by only one policeman.According to reports minor clashes erupted during morning near Sadrabal, Hazratbal on Thursday. Agitated youth outside the University gate pelted stones on police and CRPF personnel. Eyewitnesses told CNS that soon after a policeman was hit by a stone, CRPF personnel went berserk and forced their entry into Mirzabagh University residential campus of Kashmir University comprised of residential quarters reserved for the employees of University.“CRPF personnel smashed the doors and windows of residential quarters and arrested a Scholar and the son of a Section Officer of University,” a lady said adding that they even didn’t spare the children.

6321 kanals of land transferred to CUs for creation of infrastructure: Malik

GNS JAMMU MAR,01 :Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik today informed the Legislative Assembly that about 4641 kanals and 4325 kanals of land has been indentified for the establishment of the Central Universities at Jammu and Kashmir respectively, out of which 3000 kanals and 3321 kanals stands transferred to these Universities. He said the process of transferring the remaining land is in progress. The Minister was replying to question of Mr. Yashpal Kundal in the House. The Minister said that the job of land survey and contour mapping has been assigned to Educational Consultants India Limited (EDCIL) after which master plans will be formulated and the construction work taken up. Govt. to conduct scientific study of the traffic management in J&K

By Tahir Mushtaq (TNI) GNS JAMMU, : With Management of rising vehicles become a nightmare for the administration in the rapidly growing urban centers of Jammu and Kashmir, government has decided to formulate a comprehensive City Transport Policy for scientific management of the vehicles. Sources said that some private consultants are being hired by the Transport Department to do a detailed study of traffic pattern, road use and ways to deal with the jams at peak hours.
