Vohra, Governor, and Mr. Omar Abdullah, Chief Minister, today called for conducting a district wise survey of ex-Servicemen to assess their number and the area-specific requirements for enlarging their rehabilitation and welfare. GNS Jammu , March 03:     Thakur Hari Singh-Vice President JKPCC expressed concern over the pollution due to delay in the de-silting of Ranbir Canal and demanded early starting of de-silting work. In a statement issued here today Thakur Hari Singh said that the Canal has been closed for de-silting work but it has not been started so far. The garbage and filthy water in the canal has caused pollution in the surrounding localities of the canal, causing great inconvenience to the people. He     urged upon concerned authorities to immediately start the de-silting work, so that it should be completed before 31 st   March, 2012, in order to remove the difficulties of farming community to irrigate their crops during summer season.

Asks people to use democratic means to change prevailing corrupt system. Tahir Mushtaq  GNS JAMMU, Mar 03: The much awaited water mapping survey conducted to find new sources of ground water in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has found that most of the water reserves are unsuitable for human consumption. Sources said that the remote sensing technology survey carried out by the government with the help of ISRO has found high level of iron and fluoride contents in the underground sources of water found in the state.  The report says that many of the newly found underground water channels have been found at inaccessible locations, which need sophisticated technology to extract, beyond the range of equipment what the engineers are using in the country at the moment. GNS JAMMU : Scores of medical representatives took to the streets, here on Thursday, to protest against the new drug policy approved by the Jammu and Kashmir cabinet. The state cabinet had recently announced a new drug policy based on the rationalisation of the use of drugs that include selection of Essential Drug List (EDL) by the State Drug Committee. Kashmir Medical Representative Association Spokesperson, Kamran Niazi condemned the move taken by the state government saying it refrained itself from taking the consent of the desired experts. "This protest is happening not only in Kashmir valley but throughout the country. GNS JAMMU MAR,01 :Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik today informed the Legislative Assembly that about 4641 kanals and 4325 kanals of land has been indentified for the establishment of the Central Universities at Jammu and Kashmir respectively, out of which 3000 kanals and 3321 kanals stands transferred to these Universities. I am pleasantly surprised the extended weekend wasn’t as bad as I expected. GNS JAMMU FEB, 28 : Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice, Panchayati Raj and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today informed the House that the government has prioritized 47 road projects worth Rs. 28476 lakhs for funding under NABARD for erstwhile Doda district during current fiscal.  Replying to a question raised by Mr. G. M. Saroori in Legislative Assembly here, he said construction of 281 road projects of Rs. 1013.54 crore for erstwhile Doda district have been already sanctioned by the Centre under NABARD and Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
