Congress Leader Critisize the statement of Dr Kamal

GNS JMU ;Dharam Pal Sharma-Ex-MP Senior Vice President Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee said today That “ Dr. Mustafa Kamal-Additional General Secretary and Chief Spokesman of National Conference has once again put his foot stating into his mouth and made unwarranted accusations against Congress party leaders on the question of repeal of AFSPA. We condemn these remarks and ask National Conference leadership to take serious notice of Mr. Kamals false accusations against Congress party. Mr. Kamal continuously oblivious and ignorant of the fact that Congress happens to be an equal partner in the coalition and entitled to its own perception on issues. The public perception is that National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah are enjoying Mr. Kamal’s deplorable statements against the Congress party, for, otherwise how could Mustafa Kamal be promoted as NC’s Chief Spokesman after a series of unwarranted and condemnable statements against the Congress party, since the inception of the coalition”. We also reject with contempt the accusation of Dr. Mustafa Kamal that the Delhi hurled grenades in Kashmir. We can only say that only sick minds can give birth to such deplorable conceptions.

On the face of it, that is the nub of the controversy that has pitted Justice Markandey Katju, chairman of the Press Council of India, against Arun Jaitley, leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. Much like civil servants and officers of the armed forces and the police, government-appointed heads of statutory bodies are obliged to abide by the principle that they need to be discreet about matters that fall outside their remit. As citizens they are of course free to exercise their political preferences when they cast their ballot in a polling booth. But outside the booth, they must be seen to be impartial. Otherwise their conduct is bound to be suspect in the eyes of a section of opinion. That principle has however often been observed in the breach. The former army chief, Gen. V.K. Singh, often spoke out of turn as does, Vinod Rai, the present CAG. The PCI
