For JKIL Azad still CM of J&K and Chairman of the company

By Tahir Mushtaq
GNS Rajouri JAMMU, Nov : For Jammu and Kashmir Industries Limited (JKIL), Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is still the Chief Minister of the state and chairman of the JKIL.
Surprised, but quite true as even after two years since the change of guard in the state, the company has not bothered to upgrade the website casting doubts over the tall claims of the state government which is investing crores of rupees in e-governance projects.
Not only this, as per the list of Board of Directors posted on the website, former Minister of State Industries & Commerce department, Dr. Ramesh Chander Sharma, is shown as vice-chairman, while former chief secretary S S Kapur, who has since long retired from the service, is still as one of the Directors of the PSU .
The list of the members of the Board of Directors available on the website of the state owned company www.jkil.gov.in.
Another director mentioned in the list is Atal Dullo with his position mentioned as Commissioner Secretary Forest Department, who is at present Commissioner Secretary Tourism.
Sources said that the lapse shows how serious the government is about modernizing the working of its offices and departments for which Chief Minister misses to chance to claim that he was keen to strengthen e-governance system in the state.
Few years back industries department had launched a major project to invite private investment in the state to create employment in the industrial sector.
Government had taken a major initiative about eight years back to implement e-governance in all the government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSU)s and other organisation under the centrally sponsored scheme. Most of the support is provided by National Informatics Centre (NIC), which is a premier institution of the Government of India, established in 1976. Respective departments have to maintain the infrastructure which includes the software content.
Even the website of NIC (J&K) does not have a list of the government department websites and only message it shows when one clicks the sub group is site under construction”, said an official.

PDP emerged a force in Twin border District of Poonch , Rajouri

GNS RAJOURI : The way opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) led by former JK Chief Minister and erstwhile union home minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayed has been emerging as a force in the border region of Poonch , Rajouri, is really a worrying situation for Congress and National Conference . It would be much better to say that the situation if more threatening for NC as compared to Congress as the region has always been strong belt of the former for decades . The latest example is the entry of Chowdhary Qamer Hussain of Rajouri in the party fold who was earlier associated with Congress and had contested on Congress ticket from Rajouri in 2002 assembly elections , but had finished second at  that time . Qamar is not alone in the region who joined PDP in the past some months, National Conference has already received a big loss by loosing its influential cadres in Poonch district . The example is the entry of Shah Mohammad Tantray and Shehzaad Ahmed Khan of Poonch in to PDP  No...

Simultaneous alliance with Congress and BJP exhibits NC’s brazen political opportunism: PDP “Offering ‘ministerial berth’ bait manifests Omar’s insecurity”

GNS Srinagar, Nov 30: Terming Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s latest move of courting BJP as his new allies a brazen show of opportunism, opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said the National Conference has taken the political immorality to a new low by simultaneously entering into coalition of expedience with Congress and BJP. “As NC has always survived on trickery, its latest move to woo back its old allies (BJP) is in tune with the party’s philosophy of political opportunism and deceit,” PDP chief spokesman Naeem Akhtar said in a statement issued here today. He said, curiously, developing NC-BJP bonhomie coincides with the recent visit of senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha member Arun Jaitley in Jammu. Terming Omar Abdullah’s ‘ministerial berth’ bait a desperate attempt to keep the dissipating NC flock together and fully exploit disgruntled party legislators for upcoming Legislative Council polls,  Akhtar said Abdullahs have a history of adopting ‘use-a...
