GNS JMU ;Prof. Saifuddin Soz MP (Former Union Minister) & President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee called on Pranab Mukherjee Hon’ble Union Minister of Finance late last night and discussed many subjects of mutual interest with Shri. Mukherjee. Among the subjects pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir State, the recent election to the Panchayats in Jammu and Kashmir State and its aftermath came up for discussion. The proposition that Sarpanchs and Panchs can be strengthened better by adoption of 73rd amendment of the constitution of India also cam up for discussion . Earlier in the morning Prof. Soz held a meeting with Shri. P. Chidambaram Hon’ble Home Minister and discussed with him many aspects of socio political life obtaining in J&K State. Among other things, Prof. Soz apprised Shri. Chidambaram on his perception regarding consensus for repeal of AFSPA. During the day Prof. Soz had a meeting with Shri. Kapil Sibal Hon’ble Union Minister of HRD and Tele Communication. Among other things Prof. Soz discussed with Shri. Sibbal the matter regarding release of commemorative stamp in honour of Shair-e-Kashmir Late. Ghulam Ahmad Mehjoor. Prof. Soz reminded Shri. Sibal that he (Prof. Soz) had made special mention in the Rajya Sabha in March this year and urged the Department of Telecommunication to release stamp in honour of Shair-e-Kashmir Mehjoor . Prof. Soz proposed that the ceremony should be organized in Srinagar Kashmir as early as possible. Other matters raised with Mr. Sibal included award of certificates of merit to the Graduates who have completed English/Urdu computer courses through National Council for Promotion of Urdu (NCPUL) Mr. Sibal agreed to visit Kashmir for two prestigious functions, at his earliest.
