GNS SRINAGAR, JAN 22: The work of Rs. 27 crore prestigious Sanat Ghar at Bemina, Srinagar is going on in full swing and is expected to be completed by end of current year. The four storey, state of art complex would be comprised of three storeys and one sprawling underground parking lot and would accommodate all the departments and corporations of Industries and Commerce department under one roof on the pattern of Udhyog Bhawan, Jammu.
Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Mr. Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo accompanied by MD SIDCO, Mr. R. L Tickoo and Director, Industries and Commerce, Mr. M. D. Kenoo inspected the upcoming Sanat Ghar and took stock on the pace of work on the project. He asked the officers and engineers of the J&K SICOP, the executing agency, to speed up work on the project so that it is commissioned at the earliest to accrue its benefits and facilities to the entrepreneurs and industrialists without further delay. He also instructed for keeping a provision of a modern auditorium in the Sanat Ghar to enable industrialists from within and outside the State to conduct regular interaction with regard to promotion of Industries and Commerce activities in the State. He also called for establishment of bank facility, multipurpose hall for convenience of businessmen.
Mr. Kichloo said construction of Sanat Ghar at Srinagar on the pattern of Udhyog Bhawan, Jammu was a long pending demand of the traders and industrialists of the Kashmir province adding that the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah has taken personal interest in getting the project sanctioned. He asked the officers of SICOP to establish its raw material stores in each district for the convenience of the unit holders. He said the Government is conscious about the importance of the Industrial and entrepreneurship development in the economic emancipation and employment generation adding that every possible resource are being pooled to give boost to Industrialization in the State. While it is the main endeavor to facilitate investment from the big business houses of the Country and abroad, the encouragement and motivation of local youth towards self employment ventures is the mission of the Government.
Mr. Kichloo said, it is for the first time in the history of the State, that separate funds have been earmarked in the Annual Budget of the State in the form of Speed Capital Fund (SCF) for the young and first generation entrepreneurs to enable them set up their income generating units without any tedious and complicated formalities. An memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed by the Government and the H&J Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) with J&K Bank to sanction loans within two months in favour of those entrepreneurs, whose cases are sponsored by the J&K EDI under the SKEWPY. Under the Scheme 33% of the project cost is provided to the entrepreneur free from the Government side to set up their units and at now the onus now lies with the officers of the Industries and Commerce to motivated the educated youth to take full benefit of the scheme and venture in self-employment schemes under SKEWPY.
Mr. Kichloo also asked the officers to expedite work on various Handicrafts clusters in Srinagar city adding that there shall be no compromise on promotion of world famous Kashmir handicrafts and handlooms. Our effort should be to further enhance exports to handicrafts which have touched a high of Rs. 1700 crore.
