By  Inam Un Nabi GNS SRINAGAR ; The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) has demanded an impartial forensic probe into all unmarked graves across the Valley to see if there is a link between Kashmir’s disappeared people and bodies found in such graves. This follows the ‘official’ discovery of 2,156 bodies in unmarked graves in North Kashmir by the J&K Human Rights Commission (SHRC). Activists, who feel this is just the tip of the iceberg, have asked the SHRC to document similar atrocities in the rest of Kashmir too. Last month, the ADPD issued a statement, “Out of 53 cases we submitted to the SHRC, it has been established that 49 were local civilians. GNS SRINAGAR : The state cabinet is scheduled to meet on November 17 to discuss the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from parts of the state, sources said. “The cabinet would be briefed by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about the deliberations that took place on the revocation of AFSPA at the Unified Command meeting here on November 9,” they added. A senior cabinet minister said on the condition of anonymity that Omar was determined to revoke the AFSPA from atleast four districts of the state. “He (Omar) wants consensus on the issue in the cabinet. Unified Command meeting report will be discussed threadbare in the cabinet,” he said. When contacted Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister Ali Mohammad Sagar said, “Chief Minister has already said that AFSPA should be revoked from some areas. It can be discussed in the cabinet or may be not,” he said.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday expressed shock and dismay over 2 Pakistanis being kept in Jammu and Kashmir prisons for over 40 years without ever having faced trial.The court, hearing a public interest case filed by a member of the public, ordered the central government to file a comprehensive report explaining the detentions, AFP reported."It's shocking that over 254 Pakistani nationals are languishing in jails without a trial," said Supreme Court judge RN Lodha.The inmates are being held in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, with many thought to be people arrested after unwittingly crossing the disputed border in the area, the court heard.
