Indian Muslim ' Response to Demolition of Babri Masjid exemplary; Mufti

GNS SRINAGAR DEC : Calling for a "focused" follow-up of the Sachar Committee report on minorities, patron of Jammu and Kashmir's main opposition Peoples Democratic Party Mufti Mohammed Sayed today said the "unfortunate demolition of Babri Masjid had caused a deep wound into the psyche of the Muslims of India but they have responded to it with exemplary aplomb and sense of responsibility".  In a statement issued on the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, the PDP patron said pulling down of the holy site was a great challenge to the spirit of India as much as it was for the communities in an atmosphere surcharged with emotion and rhetoric.  He said decades down the line it has been established that the rights of the minority community cannot be compromised or denied. Cinemas and liquor shops should reopen in Kashmir; Farooq

GNS SRINAGAR DEC : Union minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday said cinemas and liquor shops should reopen in Kashmir to give more options to tourists visiting the state. "When we can have television at home, when we can watch pirated films at our homes what is wrong with cinemas then?"Are not these functioning in Pakistan where there is so much fervour about Islam," Abdullah said. Steps like reopening of cinemas and liquor sale would boost the tourism industry in the state, he said. ‘One man, one license’ rule thrown to winds

GNS JAMMU, Dec :  Rules and guidelines of the Excise Department were being violated with impunity by State Times Editor Raj Daluja alias Raji, who was running liquor mafia in the State on his own name and the names of his family members, relatives etc causing losses worth several crores to the State exchequer. Though Raji, who had been described as a criminal having involvement in a murder and some other cases like impersonation and in possession of fake state subjects (by two senior police officers), has the habit of violating rules and laws by maneuvering officials at lower levels and using blackmailing tactics against those, who didn’t succumb to his pressure, he has been found to be running at least 14 wine shops besides Bars, depots and factories on his own name and the names of his different relatives, which was quite contrary to existing rules and guidelines of the Excise Department.
