Not the right time to withdraw AFSPA from J&K: BJP

3 more die on way to Amarnath shrine, toll 22

GNS Srinagar: Two more Amarnath pilgrims died during the course of their journey, taking the toll during this year's yatra to 22.  Anita Chourasiya (35) from Uttar Pradesh and Sadhu Ram (34) from Uttrakhand died of cardiac arrest at Brarimarg and Panjtarni areas yesterday, officials said.  Chourasiya was on her way to the 3,880 metre high shrine housing the naturally formed ice-shivligam, while Ram was returning to the Pahalgam base camp after paying obeisance at the temple, they said.    A Pahalgam-bound devotee, Mohan Lal from Delhi, yesterday died at Anokhi Fall on the Srinagar-Jammu highway when a rock fell on him, they said.  Extreme weather conditions have failed to dampen spirits of devotees who are turning up in large numbers for the pilgrimage in its second week.  Over 1.50 lakh devotees have performed 'darshan' at the cave shrine situated in the south Kashmir Himalayas by this afternoon.  The pilgrimage had commenced on June 25 from twin tracks of Baltal i

BJYM holds protest demo against the Interlocutors' report

GNS JAMMU:: Demanding rejection of the report of the Interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir, the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Monday held a protest demonstration and burn copies of the report demanding its rejection.  Led by BJYM state president Munish Sharma, hundreds of Yuva Morcha activists held a massive protest at Rehari Chungi in Jammu city against the report of the Interlocutors.  They also burnt copies of the report demanding its rejection in toto. JK DGP calls for greater synergy among law enforcing agencies

Malaria threat: JMC only way to deal with problem is thermal fogging campaign

By Tahir Mushtaq  GNS JAMMU, JULY 02: In absence of any long term plan to deal with the malaria threat, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) is dependent on eradication of mosquitoes on only fogging campaign, which the corporation has launched about 20 day back in all the 71 wards of the city.  The drive has been launched in collaboration with Health Department (State Malariologist), supervised by Anti-Malaria Officer to prevent spread of water borne diseases in the area falling within the municipal limits.  Though the corporation has been claiming that its campaign has been able to curb the breeding grounds, but in most parts of the city, mosquito menace is still prevent.  Corporation has appealed the people, especially children and those allergic to smoke to remain in door during fogging and has urged the people to keep their surrounding clean so that mosquitoes don’t get places to breed. “We understand that this drive will not put complete end on the spread of water borne di
