Election not a contagious disease: Qureshi to separatists

GNS REPORT JUNE 08 :Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Liberation Party chairman Hashim Qureshi on Thursday asked the separatists not to shy away from elections saying it is not a "contagious disease".  "If they (separatists) are in the assembly, they can make their voice heard. They should not run away from the elections, they should know that election is not a contagious disease", Qureshi, a 1971 hijacker turned politician, told reporters here.  He said if separatists make it to the assembly they can pass an "Azaadi resolution" which will bring "more global attention to the issue. SMS ban continues in Jammu-Kashmir

GNS REPORT ,:The ban on  SMS service  in the state continues despite state government’s  claims  of peace and normalcy returning to the Valley. The  SMS  service was banned in the region in 2010 for security reasons during the unrest and has still not been restored. The state govt was of the view that SMSes were being misused to spread rumours and contributed to the protests. Not just  SMSes, even roaming services are barred on prepaid connections. The ban on theses services have affected  the lives  of many a residents especially businessmen who demanded that the step-motherly treatment towards the state should end and the ban must be revoked at the earliest

Awareness camp held at R.N. Tagore Hr. Sec. School

                                                  GNS REPORTER JAMMU ,08 JUNE :An awareness camp about the role of civil defence in our day to day life  was held at R.N. Tagore Hr. Sec. School, nanak nagar Jammu. The camp was held under the guidance of Dy. Controller Civil defence Jammu   Dy. Dushant  Sharma and Dy. Div. Warden civil defence Sh. R.Vijay Magotra and Sh Shashi  Kohli. Instructors Ram Chand, Rashpal singh, and incharge traning Rajesh Bhan  played important role. They provided educative programme for the staff and students of this school. All staff members and students showed keen  interest in awareness programme. Principal Sh. M.R. Gupta had high appreciation for the efforts of Civil  Defence team and prayed God that they keep playing their important role for  the welfare of society.

GNS REPORTER Srinagar 8 June : Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today said that no single party can claim to be in possession of a readymade solution to vexed Kashmir issue. To resolve this issue people of different thoughts from three regions of the state have to be taken on board, Article 370 is to be strengthened and those communal forces bent upon dividing the state are to be kept at bay, added Vakil while addressing a party workers convention at Tulsi Bagh Srinagar today, he said divisive forces favoring abrogation of Article 370 were the enemies of state and were trying weakening state's relation with Centre but he asserted that Congress will leave no stone unturned in defeating evil designs of those forces who are conspiring to weaken Article 370. "We need to have a consensus on Kashmir situation after which something concrete and an acceptable solution could be hammered out", he asserted. He said no single party can claim to resolve this issue
