Chennai:   His confidence boosted by the impressive bowling show against Australia in the first warm-up game on Tuesday, young Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder Parvez Rassol believes that he can do well at the big stage, including at the IPL, and eventually play for the country. "Firstly thanks to Allah and the the selectors who have given me this opportunity. It's a great achievement for me to do so well against a team like Australia so by God’s grace if I get more chances, I'll look to do my best," he said after his effort of seven for 45 which led to Australia being bowled out for just 241. "I haven't signed for an IPL team yet but hopefully if that happens I can do well and maybe play for India too," said 23-year-old Rassol, who recently became first cricketer from the Kashmir Valley to be picked for India 'A' team for a warm-up game against England. Hartal Extended To Friday, ‘Eidgah Challo’ On Feb 15

KL Report Srinagar : Hurriyat Conference (G) has called for complete shutdown till Friday. Geelani led faction of Hurriyat has also called ‘Eidgah challo’ on Friday, February 15. “Hurriyat has extended the shutdown program up to February 15, people are also appealed to gather in Eidgah Srinagar on Friday where a protest demonstration will be held to press for the mortal remains of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat,” Tehreek-e-Hurriyat spokesman Dr Ghulam Mohammad Ganai told Kashmir Life. Ganai said that they have no communications with Hurriyat chairman, Syed Ali Geelani but the available leadership has decided to extend the ongoing protest strike up to February 15. “This is irony that we are not able to communicate with Geelai Sahab who has been detained in his Delhi residence and Delhi police officials are sitting with him in his room, Geelani Sahab’s cell phone has been snatched from him so we are unable to communicate with him. The available leadership has decided to continue w

Narendra Modi V Proxies

In a private chat with a Muslim lady I was asked a question: “ Is it possible to succeed in politics in India by ignoring the biggest minority ”? My answer was a simple no. I added, though, that biggest or not, you can’t ignore anyone in politics but at the same time you have to choose if you wish to merely appease the biggest minority or help them with progress of their choice. The question from her was not merely curiosity. It was partly an assertion that appeasing the “biggest minority” is the only way to succeed in Indian politics. AB Vajpayee   tried that route in 2004 and failed. When some members of the media mafia tell you that the   Gujarat model   will not work across India, this is exactly what they’re telling you. Why shouldn’t the Gujarat model work across India? Is there some evil curse in that model? Is that model funded by the   Gambino family ? Is that model importing sand from Africa and Arabia to fill the deserts of Kutch? Does the Narmada water in Sabarmati flow on

Guru execution reinforced feeling of injustice: Mehbooba 'Centre should revisit its Kashmir policy'

GNS Srinagar Feb 12:  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the execution of Afzal Guru and the manner of dealing with the fallout in Kashmir has resulted in reinforcement of the sense of denial of justice among the people here. In a statement Mehbooba said here today that there is a long standing grouse among the people in the state that they have been treated differently and unjustly at collective and individual levels when it came to application of law and constitution. "Unfortunately this view has only been vindicated by the way and the myopic handling of Guru's case and its impact on Kashmir." Mehbooba said while the long term repercussions of Afzal hanging would have to be observed carefully it is time that government of India revisited the entire approach to J&K and the problems faced by it. She said at present there is a clear perception that Guru has been hanged with political motives and Kashmir has been made a pawn in the electoral politics. This,
