Urdu language neglect .SOZ

GNS JAMMU ; State Congress chief and member Rajya Sabha, professor Saif-udin Soz Wednesday said that the Urdu language was facing neglect at government level and demanded that it should be declared second language after Hindi in India."The Promotion of Urdu language needs attention at the highest level in Government of India.This language is spoken and understood throughout India and it is a vibrant situation in UP, Bihar, Karnataka, Andhra, Jammu & Kashmir Maharashtra and Delhi," Soz told Rajya Sabha, according to a statement issued here.On the basis of its contribution to the freedom struggle and promotion of Hindu-Muslim Unity, the language should since have been declared as second official language in the country after Hindi, he said. GNS Srinagar Dec : Rubbishing Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani's accusation of political vendetta behind the seizure of calendars and diaries of his party Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, state government Wednesday said the step was taken as it feared the publications could infuriate the situation in Valley.Talking to a local news agency, Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani said that government has no intention of harassing anybody. "But at the same time nobody can be let free to disturb law and order. Mufti calls for structural reforms in state’s anti corruption step up

GNS Jammu , Dec 15 : Calling for structural reforms in the state’s anti corruption set up. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed today said there was a pressing need for strengthening the institutions of State Accountability Commission (SAC) and Vigilance Organization. Addressing an impressive public meeting at the centrally located Rani Park area of Jammu East assembly segment, he said the SAC should be provided with its own independent investigation wing so that corruption cases can be investigated independent of government interference. He said that the officers of proved merit and integrity be appointed in this investigation wing. Mufti said one of the ways could be transferring the administrative control of the Vigilance Organization to the SAC so it could remain free of political influence or maneuvering. GMC without fire fighting system

Tahir Mushtaq GNS JAMMU, Dec : Despite being one of the biggest hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir, Government Medical College Hospital (GMC&H) is awaiting a major disaster as it has a defunct Central Fire Control System to deal with any major fire incident.  Sources said that the multi-crore system installed in the hospital, two decades has become obsolete and the authorities at the helm of affairs are sitting over the proposal to upgrade it risking the lives of thousands of people visiting the hospital daily.  Sources said that the fire control system was installed at the time of construction of the building about 20 years back. However in absence of proper maintenance and look after it became defunct over the years and now the vital public asset with hundreds of crores of health infrastructure eludes any fire fighting system.  “The main reason behind the collapse of the system was the lack of trained persons who are able to keep the system shipshape and also hold drills
