Media boycott the proceedings of Assembly : Mehbooba

GNS JAMMU : Since media has gone on boycott of the proceedings of Assembly  against the remarks of some ministers and the Presiding Officer made on the floor of the house by them on 27-02-2012 during the course of proceedings , an ugly situation has been created with a potential danger to divide the 4 th Estate and Legislature at peril of the larger legislative practices.  Also , it has the repercussions which are likely to cause irreparable loss to the state polity. As an immediate consequence , the  normal business will become meaningless without media scrutiny and coverage. Therefore, we move that the same be suspended for 28-02-2012 to discuss this issue of urgent public importance , which also should precede with an appeal to press to resume normal functioning and facilitate task of legislature to accomplish the constitutional obligation in a desirable and cooperative manner in tune with democratic spirit and public good.

Erosion in Chief Minister’s institution a sad account of misgovernance in corruption ridden state. Mehbooba.

Before I make mention of urgent issues dogging the state of Jammu and Kashmir I as an individual and also head of  the largest opposition in Assembly  feel it my bounden duty to express my dismay and shock over the treatment metted out to press fraternity today in Assembly , from the treasury bench as well as from the Presiding Officer. While you have your own code and initiative to deal with such crisis , I have an obligation to express solidarity and will hope that press is honoured at least for its role  it is playing  it is playing despite criticism and odds. Dear Journalists , like you me and my party has more unpleasant experience about gagging  voices by NC whenever it is about a public debate and discourse or about issues brought to fore as a  public trust . We have ,since inception of the budget session cast upon ourselves this duty   towards the people to raise issues of their interest or issues that effect our polity. This would deserve more the mention of  the mise

SAC toothless when it comes to fighting ‘bureaucratic corruption’

'Qasba indicted but still enjoys vital postings' Pankaj Sangral GNS JAMMU : While State Accountability Commission (SAC) has been sending notices to the Minister for their involvement in corruption cases, but in absence of bringing bureaucracy in the ambit of commission law, it has become a toothless tiger to fight bureaucratic corruption.  Yesterday, senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Muzaffar Hussain Beigh, raised the issue in the Legislative Assembly and said that whole investigation and judicial system is such that without reforms, this institutionalized corruption cannot be rooted out. So for weeding out corruption, institutions need to be strengthened.  In 90 per cent cases, ministers sign the files in good faith. But in this House, he (the minister) is responsible for the omission and commission, if any, committed. So when we talk about corruption, it is not against anybody and any minister in particular. But then he too is responsibl
