Govt Spending 70 Cr on Artificial Lake in Jammu

GNS Jammu, July 07  – Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today inspected the construction of 4th bridge over River Tawi at Bhagwati Nagar and received the details of its completion. The 750 mtr long bridge involving an expenditure of Rs. 92 crores is executed by JKPCC. Omar Abdullah also reviewed the status of work on artificial lake being developed in River Tawi at a cost of about Rs. 70 crores. The Chief Minister was told that the work on the project is going on as per schedule. He also received presentation and got detailed appraisal of the blue prints of Jewel Chock fly-over project being completed at a cost of over Rs. 95 crores. Giving details of the construction and technical aspects of the bridge, the Managing Director, JKPCC Madan Gupta told the Chief Minister that 90% of the work on the bridge has been completed so far and balance work of left over one span will be achieved after the rainy season. J&K: Army jawan killed, 1 injured in militant attack

GNS Srinagar July 7: An Army jawan was on Saturday killed and another injured when militants opened fire on them from point blank range in highway town of Pampore in south Kashmir, police said.  This was the third such shooting incident in south Kashmir during the past five days.  The soldiers were withdrawing money from an ATM at Kadalbal, 16 kms from here, on Srinagar-Jammu national highway when the ultras armed with pistols targetted them around 3.10 PM, they said.  Sepoy Deepak Kumar died on way to hospital after being hit by a bullet in the neck, while his colleague was undergoing treatment.  The ultras fled immediately after the shooting which sparked off panic in the busy town, the police said adding a hunt has been launched to nab them.  No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. On July 3, militants shot dead two policemen from point blank range in separate attacks at Rajpora chowk in Pulwama and Yaripora in Kulgam district. 

JK Police handed over step father of Missing starlet's to Maharashtra police

GNS Jammu, July 7 (IANS) Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday handed over Parvez Tak, a suspected Lashkar-e-Taiba extremist and step-father of missing Bollywood starlet Laila Khan, to the Maharashtra Police for further questioning in the case of her mysterious disappearance. Deputy Inspector General (Doda range) Gareeb Das told IANS over phone that the custody of Tak has been given to the Maharashtra police. "Now, we would be waiting for the details that would emerge during his questioning by the Maharashtra police," he said. Tak, a native of Kishtwar town about 230 km northeast of Jammu, was arrested June 21 after Laila Khan's vehicle was found in the town. During interrogation, Tak made the revelation that Laila Khan - missing since February 2011 - had been killed along with four other members of her family and their bodies had been disposed of somewhere near Mumbai. Mufti, Mehooba condole demise of S D Rohmetra

GNS REPORT Srinagar, July 7: ::  Peoples’ Democratic Party has expressed deep shock and grief over the demise of revered Darvesh Peer Rafiq Sahib of South Kashmir. Peer Rafiq was hit by a speedy vehicle near Mattan Anantnag in morning today. Peer Rafiq also the nephew of PDP Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was the known spiritual figure in the valley particularly in south Kashmir with thousands of his followers.
