Preservation of heritage a national duty: Omar

GNS JAMMU, :Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Tuesday said that preservation of heritage is the national duty and all are equal stakeholders in this stupendous task. He said the departments and agencies entrusted with this job have all the more important responsibility to shoulder. “Jammu and Kashmir is abode of rich cultural diversity and heritage mosaic”, he said laying stress on its preservation and showcasing at national and international levels. He said that a comprehensive strategy and active public participation is imperative in this regard. “This novelty of the State could be utilized in generating wide-ranging economic activities by roping in tourists, historians, students and others”, he added. Mubarak Gul meets various deputations

GNS SRINAGAR, FEBRUARY 07: The Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Mubarak Gul today met various deputations at Chief Minister’s Private Office, Srinagar. The deputationists representing different walks of life put forth their demands before the Advisor. The Advisor heard them patiently and assured them that their demands would be looked into on priority basis. He directed concerned officers to ensure timely disposal of the cases. A deputation of Contractual Lecturers also called on the Advisor and discussed various issues regarding their employment. Established colleges lack infrastructure, Govt. proposes women college in each district

Tahir Mushtaq    GNS JAMMU,:While already existing colleges in Jammu and Kashmir lack infrastructure, government has sent a proposal to centre to establish Women Colleges at each district.  According to the officials, these will be separate from the already announced Degree colleges being constructed by the state under the Prime Ministers Reconstruction Programme. Sources said that if the proposal is accepted, 90 per cent of the funds will be borne by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry while state will have to invest only 10 per cent of the money.  Officials said that the Higher Education Department is giving final touches to the proposal in this regard and the same will be placed before HRD Ministry, but the proposal will not include districts like Jammu, Srinagar, Kathua, Pulwama, Udhampur and Sopore which already have women colleges, either part of co-educational or only women specific.  “Aim is to encourage women education as many families particularly in ru

Panchayets up in arms against government We will launch an agitation if not empowered fully : Mir

Rajouri February7:Expressing their resentment and anguish  over the attitude of state government in empowering Panchayets, large  number of Srapnaches of border region of Poonch and Rajouri have  threatened an agitation against the government if they were not  empowered at par with other states of the country like Hamachel  Pardesh and Rajisthaan .
