Sharma brothers powerful in Jammu politics

BY: SHAFIQ MIR  If I am not wrong, Sharma brothers of Akhnoor tehsil in Jammu and  Kashmir state are most powerful in the government of Jammu and  Kashmir. It is not only my opinion, but the facts and the changes  which take place time to time in the system of Jammu and Kashmir  suggests that Sharma brothers are linked with the change . It has also  been seen many times that government of Jammu and Kashmir can not take  any major decision if Sharma brothers are not taken in to confidence . GNS JAMMU  A meeting of Block Congress Committee Vijaypur was held     at Vijaypur   in    which the problems of people were highlighted. Th. PCC asked the district administration to accelerate the relief for affected families

GNS Jammu:  Pradesh Congress Committee has asked the district administration to accelerate the relief and rehabilitation measures for the affected families in the fire incident at Kajole Mohalla in Ligri area of Paddar, in district Kishtwar, where four members of a family were burnt alive and another girl also received serious burnt injuries. In a statement PCC Spokesperson & General Secretary Mr. Ravinder Sharma-MLC today enquired from the district administration about the relief and rehabilitation measures taken so far and he was apprised by the District Development Commissioner Kishtwar that an amount of Rs. 17 lac has been sanctioned for the rehabilitation of affected families besides,  other ex-gratia  relief has also been proposed for them. J&K most illiterate among northern states, census of India

Tahir Mushtaq  GNS JAMMU, : Jammu and Kashmir is least literate among northern states including the newly carved out Uttarakhand, reveals the latest census report.  Though the state’s literate population has been pegged at more than 68 percent of the total 1.25 crore persons – with a decadal growth of 13 percent - it is far behind other northern states like Himachal Pradesh (83.78 percent), Punjab (76.68 percent) Haryana (76.64 percent), Delhi (86.34 percent) and newly created Uttarakhand (79.63 percent). Jammu and Kashmir’s literate population was recorded at 55.50 percent in 2001 census.  According to the census data, more people in JK are leaving farms and villages to settle in towns and cities. Around 30 percent of over 1.25 crore state population has been recorded to be living in urban JK, the report says.  The share of urban population in the state has gone up to 27.21 percent and the people living in rural areas constitute 72.79 percent of total populace.
