Mini Bus turns turtle at Rajouri 2 passengers killed 32 injured in a Accident

GNS RAJOURI  June 11th: In a tragic road accident two persons were killed while at least thirty two passengers were injured some them critically wounded , when a Mini Bus (Matador) in which they were travelling in skidded off the road and turned turtle at Tandwal Thandi Kassi under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rajouri th is morning. The ill fated Matador bearing registration Nojk11/3383 carrying about 34 passengers was on its way from Pallain to Rajouri when reached at Tanwal bridge , the driver of the ill fated vehicle lost his control over the vehicle due to which it collided with the pillar of bridge and turned turtle resulting in 34 passengers sustained injuries. Out of the injured persons the three critically wounded have been shifted to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment owing to their critical condition . Kashmir complete shutdown in mark martyrs week

Srinagar, MTT News Desk: Kashmir complete shutdown was observed to mark the commencement of Martyrs Week to remember the Kashmiri martyrs including those 122 innocent youth who were shot dead by  armed forces during mass uprising in the territory in 2010. Call for observance of the Week had been given by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Shah Geelani. All shops, business establishments, educational institutions, banks and courts remained closed while traffic was off the road. The  authorities had placed APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani and other senior hurriyat leaders including, Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Zafar Akbar Butt under house arrest.

KP organisation asks govt to increase cash relief

GNS JAMMU JUN 11 :Jammu: The APEX advisory committee for migrants on Monday came out in support of the Kashmiri Pandits, demanding an increase in the cash relief for the displaced community, and warned that if their genuine demands are not listened to they will be forced to go on an agitation against the government.  Some of the relief holders have been on dharna outside the relief commissioners office here from the past 78 days and they have said that if the government does not act on their demands immediately, they will resort to a fast unto death. Kashmir gets high security number plates

GNS Jammu, June 11:  Jammu and Kashmir today began fixing tamper proof number plates on vehicles in line with an apex court order. The number plates will have a unique identification to allow the transport department to retrieve all details of any vehicle. According to Regional Transport Officer Virender Slathia, the process started in Jammu and Srinagar while other districts would follow later. Slathia said the number plates will be visible up to 150 metres and will glow at night. Initially the plates are being fitted only on new vehicles. "We will fix 150-200 plates daily on new vehicles while the plates on old vehicles will be replaced on dates to be notified later," said the officer. Jammu and Srinagar cities have approximately half a million vehicles each plying on their streets. Omar Calls for Proactive North-north Cooperation

                                      GNS JUNE11 SRINAGAR: Describing water key resource for comprehensive development of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Monday said that the State would utilize the platform of International Hydel Power Convention gainfully to harness this resource optimally for the sustained development.  Addressing the 7th International Hydel Power Convention at SKICC here, the Chief Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir possesses enormous hydel potential of about 20,000 MWs, of which only 2,458 MWs are presently harnessed. He said his government has focused larger attention to fill up this gap and tap this potential within the shortest possible time. Omar Abdullah said that the State Government has recently announced series of policy reforms and initiatives in this regard alongwith notifying Jammu and Kashmir Hydro Projects Development Policy 2011 to implement projects ranging from 2-100 MWs capacity to make it investor friendly.
