Speaker constitutes award committee to select, confer outstanding - legislators award 2012

GNS JAMMU, FEB 21- The Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mohamamd Akbar Lone has constituted an award committee to select and confer Annual awards on outstanding legislators for the year 2012. Former Speakers, Mr. Ali Mohammad Naik, Mirza Abdul Rashid and Senior Journalist Mr Ahmad Ali Fayaz have been appointed as the members of the Award Committee. The Committee shall submit its report to the speaker by or before mid of December, 2012, so that the awards are conferred by the end of the same month.   

Omar directs executing agencies for time bound execution

  GNS SRINAGAR, FEB 21: “The time bound quality execution of works should be ensured by all executing agencies and any contractor who is found responsible for causing deliberate delay in accomplishment of the assigned developmental works under the contract should be blacklisted” said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while chairing the District Development Board Review Meeting of District Kupwara here today. Mehbooba condemns civilian killings

GNS Jammu  Feb 21:: Strongly condemning the stepped up attacks by 'unidentified' gunmen on unprotected civilians, People's Democratic Party (PDP) today said the phenomenon seemed to be a permanent accomplice of the National Conference. " Whenever NC comes to power the unidentified gunman is not far behind" party president Mehbooba Mufti said here today in a statement. She said unexplained killings have become a hallmark of NC regimes since 1996. Referring to the brutal killing of a youth Omar Rasool Kaboo in Sopore Mehbooba expressed deep grief at the loss of another young man at the hands of unidentified gunman. She said the killing came after a series of similar incidents and the outrage of the town was understandable. Omar’s crusade against corruption

                 DVOs themselves have cases pending against them or under investigation By Sunny Sangral   GNS JAMMU, : At a time when Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is making tall claims of fighting corruption in Jammu and Kashmir through State Vigilance Organisation (SVO), there are several Department Vigilance Officers (DVO)s against whom cases of corruption are pending.  This has been relived by a RTI filed by a activist recently.  As per the reply of the state government, M. L Raina, ACD Jammu (Divisional Level DVO for RDD), has a FIR No. 23/97 P/S VOJ pending against him for alleged misappropriation of funds during his tenure as ADC Poonch.
