Govt, political parties deceived Panches, Sarpanches, teach them a lesson: Fazal Wani

                                  “Vote for walking stick” JAMMU: Independent candidates in the upcoming LC elections for J-1 and J-2 seats, (Master\  Retired) Sarpanch Fazal Alam Wani has appealed Panchs and Sarpanchs to vote against the political parties candidates in the elections . He said that political parties have deceived Panches and Sarpanches and now it is our turn to teach them a lesson. He said that defeating the political party’s candidates is the motive of Sarpanches and if the government fails to fulfill its promises, such a campaign will be launched during 2014 state legislative elections as well. He said that Congress created drama on the Panchayat empowerment issue while NC is reluctant to empower us adding that issuing the notification for BDC elections was also a part of that drama. He lamented that government had insulted the Panchayat members in the society and rendered them vulnerable.

GNS Jammu  November 30 :   President JKPCC Prof. Saifuddin Soz-MP has said that an empowered Panchayat Raj System would become an effective Institution of service to the grass root people in the state. Addressing a meeting of Sarpanchs and Panchs at Akhnoor today Prof. Soz said that there is broader understanding between coalition partners for the empowerment of Panchayat Raj Institution on the pattern of 73 rd  Amendment of the Constitution of India by incorporating the best provision in the state Panchayat Raj Act. He said that the polls for the Block Development Councils were differed for a short period, for the purpose of further empowering these institutions and to provide reservation to women, SCs & other sections and the poll for BDCs and District Bodies would also be held shortly after the necessary amendments in the State Act.
