Nasir Wani, Javed hold public meetings at Rajdhani Thannamandi of Rajouri

                                                   GNS RAJOURI, MAY 24-Minister of State for Home, Mr Nasir Aslam Wani and Minister of State for R&B, Javed Ahmad Dar today convened a series of public meetings in various far off areas of Rajouri to inspect the ongoing development works in the district besides taking stock of people’s problems. Addressing a public meeting at Thannamandi, the Ministers elaborated the measures being taken up by the present government for socio-economic empowerment of people. They dwelt upon various steps like PSGA, RTI Act, and Accountability Commission and asked the people to take optimum benefit of such programmes to get speedy justice and disposal of their grievances. “These initiatives of the government have brought a big change in the total system ensuring a more responsive and accountable dispensation to the people”, they added. Women, children suffered most in militancy: Omar

GNS SRINAGAR, MAY 24 :– Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Thursday said that the children and women in the state had to bear most and severe brunt of the militancy even as the society in general suffered a lot. PDP Demands CBI Probe Into Death Of Children At GB Pant .

GNS RAJOURI MAY 24 : In a press statement People Democratic Party (PDP) leader Shafqat Wani d emands CBI probe into the death of children at GB Pant hospital Srinagar. He urged to Dr Manmohan Singh Prime Minister of India for his intervention to save the lives of newly born children who are dying in the said hospital. GPS in vehicle: still a failed project, as Govt. fails to start it

By Tahir Mushtaq  GNS JAMMU, May 24: Despite tall claims by the government to streamline the traffic system in Jammu and Kashmir, on ground, many of the projects initiated by the government have failed.  One such project was designed by the State Transport Department to install the Global Positioning System (GPS) in all the private and government vehicles of the state, but even after one year, it is yet to start. According to the sources the project was initiated keeping the view the increased in the vehicle theft cases in the state.  “The government had constituted a committee to examine the mechanism of the project and efforts were being made to give the concrete shape to the project” said an official.  Officials further said that the total cost of installation of GPS is Rs 6000 and in addition to this Rs 1000 will be recurring expenses on yearly basis.  They maintained that t is useful for tracking down the vehicle if it gets stolen.
