Tahir Mushtaq  GNS JAMMU, Dec : While crores have been spent on up gradation of infrastructure in the hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir in past eight years, but lack of trained manpower has rendered these newly created facilities useless.  One such example is the unutilized four Operation Theatres (OT) in the new emergency block of the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu which have remained non functional even after eight months of inauguration.  Sources said that provision for these OTs were made to enable doctors to attend the emergency cases in minimum possible time, particularly road accident victims and to ease pressure on the existing operation facilities but these have so far not been used due to shortage of manpower.  Sources said that these new operation theatres are even without the required equipments, putting a question mark on the huge investments made on the building of the new emergency block in the premier hospital of Jammu region.  “Last year

Govt orders inquiry into conversion of agriculture land

GNS JAMMU, Dec :  The State Government today ordered an inquiry into conversion of over 700 kanals of agriculture land for non-agriculture purpose and pressure used on farmers from various quarters to sell it to State Times Editor Raj Daluja alias Raji at village Raipur Jagir near Seri Rakwalan in Gho Manasan area under the jurisdiction of Kanachak police station. A spokesman of the Revenue Department told the Excelsior that a `secret inquiry' has been ordered to find out how such a large chunk of agriculture land on Tawi river bed was managed by a non-agriculturist. He confirmed that Raji or his wife Suman Daluja or any other family members didn't fall in the category fixed for sale of more than four kanals of agriculture land. “Such a big sale of agriculture land can take place only between the agriculturists'', he said, adding that Raji or his family members didn't fall in any clause fixed for sale of agriculture land of more than four kanals. E-tendering process to benefit contractors: SHGs

GNS SRINAGAR, Dec  :   The Association of Self-Help Group of Engineers today alleged that the recently introduced e-tendering process has been tailor made to benefit contractors. While addressing a press conference, Syed Parvez Hussain, President Self Help Group of Engineers Association (SHGEA) expressed his fears that the e-tendering may eat into their interests saying that the process has been expedited for the benefit of the contractors. He said the imposition of district barriers would ensure that there is a bar on the allocation of works in a particular district. "We fear that our cards may be misused under the garb of e-tendering process. The scheme has been designed to suit the interests of contractors and they seem to be ultimate beneficiaries. There has been awareness about the e-tendering and everything has been done in a jiffy without any proper procedure," said Parvez. DySP arrested SSP, SP, Reasi attached

GNS JAMMU, Dec :  In a major decision, the Government today ordered attachment of three senior police officers of Reasi district including SSP Keshav Ram Chaurasia while police arrested DySP Headquarters Mohammad Aslam Choudhary after Additional SP Reasi Anita Sharma lodged a FIR against him that he had hurled abuses on her during the public meeting of Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah. The Government has ordered an inquiry into the entire episode. IGP Jammu Dilbagh Singh would hold the inquiry, official sources said. SSP Reasi Keshav Ram Chaurasia, IPS, Additional SP Reasi, Anita Sharma, KPS and DySP Headquarters, Reasi, Mohammad Aslam Choudhary have been removed from Reasi and attached in the office of the IGP Jammu by a Government order.
