GNS Srinagar 01 NOV. 2012: Former Minister and Member AICC Abdul Gani Vakil today described late Smt. Indira Gandhi a strong, courageous and visionary leader and for which the late leader was hailed globally. Vakil said she was interested in prosperous and peaceful J&K State and that thinking made her to enter in the historical accord with Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in the year 1975 and did a commendable job by bringing a regional party National Conference of J&K in the mainstream. Mr. Vakil said Nehru family symbolizes secularism and Kashmiris have connected themselves through accession with the rest of the country because it is secular. If Nehru family gets weak at national level, this connection will get weakened because the Kashmiris have never accepted communal but secular India added Vakil.
Vakil was addressing a function which was organized to pay glowing tributes to late Smt Indira Gandhi on her 28th birth anniversary at Tulsi Bagh Srinagar. Function was organized by congress Sevadal.  Vakil said she strengthened secularism and was instrumental in bringing neighboring countries close to India and strengthening the ties of friendship between them. Vakil said Indiraji was architect of modern India. He said that Smt. Indira Gandhi always worked for the upliftment of weaker sections of the society. She wanted the state to be prosperous in every sphere and it was the dream of late Smt. Indira Gandhi to develop the State and make it prosperous and this will be fulfilled so that State competes on socio-economic front with other states of the country. He highlighted her contribution in eradication of poverty, illiteracy and corruption in the country. He said that true Congressmen should follow her principles and the path shown to us by sacrificing her life and delivering good to the people of this great nation. He also recalled her leadership qualities and her contribution in the politics of the country and the world.
Mr. Vakil said the best way to pay tribute to Smt. Indira Gandhi is to get united against corruption. He said corruption is the only reason which made our State to  lag behind in development and said those ministers, politicians and bureaucrats having allegation of corruption and land grabbing should not be scared of investigation and if allegations against them are not true, they should prove it in different courts and commissions where cases against them are pending. If any politician, minister or bureaucrat accused was not involved in land encroachments or any corruption then why that person has to be frightened from any investigation Vakil added.
Sr. Congress leader and MLC Haji Ali Mohammad Bhat also paid glowing tributes to late Smt. Indira Gandhi and while addressing the gathering said that Nehru family has all along been sympathetic and affectionate to the people of Kashmir and whenever any type of problem came to the people of state Nehru family stood like a rock behind the people of the state whether it was the time of wars or the time of last twenty years of militancy in Kashmir. Nehru family has always been there behind the people of Kashmir.

PCC General Secretary Vinod Sharma met Div. Com. Apprised about the problem of electric supply in Jammu city.

 GNS  Jammu , June 05:  A deputation led by PCC General Secretary Mr. Vinod Sharma met the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and apprised him about the problem of electric supply in Jammu city. Mr. Sharma said that there are long cuts in the electric supply in the urban areas of Jammu especially in Jammu East and Jammu West. He said that the children and old aged are falling ill due to long cuts in electric supply during scorching heat. He said that the scheduled fixed by the department for power cuts i.e three hours for metered areas and eight hours for non metered areas stands no were. There are long scheduled and unscheduled power cuts and people are facing great hardships.
