Babri Masjid breakers converted to ISLAAM

We were those who hammered down Babri Masjid, and we are the ones who seek the pleasure of Almighty Allah by building mosques now. What we did was in a state of ignorance, what we are doing is a conscious act based on our faith in Creator. Where are those who revel in their hatred against Islam. Let them come and embrace it the same way we did. Sheen Meem Ahmed translates a soul stimulating story of Muslim converts
Master Muhammad Aamir (former Balbir Singh) gives in this narrative a detailed account of his sensational phase of life beginning from his affiliations to the Shiv Sena Youth Wing to his ultimate reversion to Islam. As a young boy with a burning desire to please Rama, the Hindu deity, he took active part along with his close friend Umar (former Yogindharpal Singh) to hammer down the 16th century historic Babri Masjid situated at Faizabad U.P (India on infamous December 6, 1992). But afterwards astonishingly their lives took such a dramatic turn that both these Hindu devotees had not only to repent and remorse, weep and wail over their misdeed but also had to revert to Islam subsequently to escape the wrath of Almighty Allah. Now they are working shoulder to shoulder to spread the message of Islam in the nook and corner of their state. Through this write-up we are reminded of our divinely ordained duty which as Muslims we owe to mankind i.e. to practice and preach Islam. Originally written in Urdu the English translation of this interesting write-up is intended to open our eyes so that we wake up to the call of Islam. ??Translator.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Coming form a Rajput family and on December 6, 1970, I was born in a village at Panipat (Haryana). My father besides being a prominent peasant was Headmaster in a Primary School. He was by disposition a nice human being and had a strong belief in politeness and humanity so much so that he was deadly against doing harm to anyone. Being an eyewitness of 1947 Carnage, he would relate us with a heavy heart the horrors of the gory events of those fateful days. To him massacre of Muslims in the wake of partition was a slur on the face of country. In those crucial days, he would take an active part whole-heartedly in the rehabilitation of the surviving Muslims and also took keen interest in helping Muslim students of local High School.
I took admission in a Panipat school for intermediate class after passing matriculation in the local High School. Panipat is the place where probably after Mumbai, the notorious Shiv Sena (a Semi-Militant Hindu revivalist organization) is firm footed. Here the local youths and students are especially oriented in and engaged with the ideology and activities of the Sena. I developed friendship with several Sena influenced boys. Consequently, I too got registered with one of the branches of this party. In view of Panipat?s historical background, Sena activists do in particular poison the minds of Hindu youths against the Muslim Community especially in reference to Babar and other Muslim rulers. As my father came to know about my affiliations with and brainwashing by Shiv Sena, he tried his utmost to convince me of its pitfalls. He gave all references of history to cleanse my mind from doubts. Narrating the historical episodes as to how Babar and particularly Aurangzeb treated judiciously the non-Muslim subjects, he clarified that the English caused distortions in the history in pursuance to their policy of ?divide and rule?. The English wanted to create a wedge between Hindu and Muslims in order to make the nation weaker. My father made all his efforts to isolate me from the Sena while giving all the relevant details of the excesses and massacres of 1947 in the light of authentic history. I neither could understand him nor did subscribe his views.

BABRI MASJID DECIMATED
The days of anxious wait passed one after another and at last the inauspicious day drew closer. This was the happiest day of my life then. On December 1, 1992, I reached Ayodihyah along with my companions. One among them was Yogindherpal, my bosom friends, who belonged to a big landlord family of Jatu village in Sonepat. His father too was a gentle natured man and lover of humanity. He pressed his son hard not to go to Ayodhiyah but in vain. Yogindherpal?s uncle too was upset over his misadventure but he did not listen to anyone and set out to the highly dangerous place i.e Ayodhiyah.
On the night of 5th December, 1992 we reached very close to Babri Masjid and hiddenly passed the night on the rooftops of some nearby Muslim houses. The very thought made me uneasy that if something like October 30th event occurs and I am deprived of this ?auspicious? task (i.e breaking of Babri Masjid). Having no idea as to what other leaders (of Shiv Sena, BJP, HVP, Bajrangdal) might do to accomplish the task, I thought it advisable to begin the Kar Seva by ourselves. But the Sanchalak (senior party activist to oversee the arrangements and pass on directions of party leaders to cadres) prevented us from taking initiatives whatsoever by ourselves as it was against the dictates and discipline strictly imposed by party high command. Meanwhile, Oma Bharati (the fireband BJP leader who now stands sacked from the party and now heads her faction of BJP) appeared on the scene and delivered a highly inflammable speech. Her speech incited the Kar Sevaks further. The intoxicating speech made me so furious and uncontrollable that instantly I took a pickaxe in my hand, descended down from the rooftop and climbed up the tomb of Babri Masjid. Yougindher followed me. As Oma Bharti raised the slogan ‘Ek Daka Aur Do, Babri Masjid Toad Do? (i.e give one more stroke and break the Babri Masjid), the opportune time came when my dreams were to be realized practically. I gave a powerful stroke on the middle dome of the Mosque while chanting the slogan to the hilt of my voice ?Bhagvan Ram ki Jai? (May lord Rama livelong!). In no time, the whole mosque was razed to the ground completely. Before the mosque was dusted to particles, we came down victoriously. Now we were overwhelmingly joyous, sang the hymns in praise of lord Rama and marked our foreheads with the religious paint (a reverential mark in Hinduism).

DIVINE WRATH
Now came the turn of the Lord of Universe to show his revengeful wrath against this unpardonable sin. Lo and behold! within just four or five days completely after this sorrowful event Yogindharpal all of a sudden lost his mental balance, semblance of sanity and basic requirements of decency. Torn under the severe fits of madness, he at once undressed himself and remained nude all the time.
It is mentionable here that he happened to be the lone son of a respectable family. His father, Chaudhry Ragubir Singh who possessed vast landed assets, belonged to influential Chaudhry family and was a known rich man in the village. The impact of sudden and surprising madness on Yogindhar was so enormous that he would often try to strip off the clothes of his mother with the intention of sexual assaults against her and made advances too. Even he would express freely his beastly desire to have sexual intercourse with his mother. With this dirtiest-ever intention, he would pin pointedly hug her. This horrible state of his son?s mind left the desperate and totally broken father worried, anxious and ashamed.
He contacted and consulted scores of elders to avail of their valued suggestions as to what should he do as a remedial measure to get rid of unspeakable and shameful mental disease and psychological disorder of the Yogindhar. At times, he invoked the almighty for his forgiveness and even offered alms to ward off the ill-omened madness of his son. But all his efforts went in vain and Yogindhar?s condition deteriorated day by day.

SPIRITUAL TREATMENT
One day when Chaudhry Ji was away of his home, his mad son caught hold of his mother and tried to rape her. She shouted loudly in her defense and when her hue and cry reached the ears of neighbors they rushed towards the spot and rescued her from his paws after a great difficulty. In order to curtail and control his movement he was now tied with strong chains. However, when all the efforts of his father failed to retrieve him back to normalcy he made up his mind under the compulsion of circumstances to shoot him to death. Luckily, at this decisive point of time someone told Chaudhry Ji that: ?in Sonepat near the Idgah there is a Madarasa (Muslim boarding school especially devoted to religious education and learning) where a renowned Moulvi Sahib (Moulvi Muhammad Kaleem Sidiqi) pays visits; you better see him there once (in connection with the spiritual treatment of your mentally retarded son). If your problem is not solved there, do whatever pleases you later on.?
As advised by the well meaning individual, both of them rushed to Sonepat where to his disappointment Chaudhry Ji learned that as Moulvi Sahib visits that place once a month, usually on first day of the month, he had routinely come there and left the next morning as per schedule. Desperate and discouraged Chaudhry Ji began to enquire if some one else was there well versed in the art of exorcism. He came to know that the Madrasa?s Qari Sahib was a learned man in the particular job but he too had left the place accompanying the Moulvi Sahib. Meanwhile, he was informed of the address of Delhi?s another Moulvi Sahib by a shopkeeper at Idgah. It was through him that he came to know that Moulvi Sahib (i.e Muhammad Kaleem Sahib) might be available in the mosque of Buwana Delhi on Tuesday. Imam Sahib of that mosque happened to be one of the disciples of Moulvi Sahib. He was pressing his teacher hard since a long time to pay a visit to him, which he would not consent to in view of his busy schedule. However, the shopkeeper had over heard that Moulvi Sahib had promised his disciple that he would offer Namaz-i-Zuhar (noontime prayers) at the aforesaid day at Buwana, Delhi. Chaudhry Ji tied his son again with chains and set out for Buwana.
Reaching Buwana, Delhi?s actual spot along with his son he had by chance an opportunity to listen the sermon of Imam Sahib (perhaps Moulvi Bashir Ahmad) there. In the context of Babri Masjid episode, he was telling that: ?owing to the current situation several Imams and teachers (of religious institutions) from Haryana have left for their homes in U.P and out of fear they have not retuned back till now. Earlier Moulvi Muhammad Kaleem Sahib has in his lecture on the issue stressed that had Muslims invited the non-Muslim brethren to Islam, acquainting them with the concept of Allah, the almighty and educated them about the sanctity of mosques, such unfortunate events (that is Babri Masjid demolition) would have never occurred. Kaleem Sahib put some blame of this tragedy on the Muslim community also complaining that it had not taken pains to call the non-Muslims to Islam. However, if we wake up now from deep slumber and fulfill to the best of our competence all the demands of being upholders of the message of Islam, we will find to our amazement that all those who break mosques, those very people will be their protectors. Moulvi Sahib did remind us that on the occasions of such a grave crisis and hypersensitive situations, Muhammad (PBUH), the Messenger of Islam, would always invoke Allah?s forgiveness for the sinners and wrong doers. He would pray: O Allah! Direct my people towards the path of righteousness for they are unaware (of their follies) because of ignorance?.
Deeply impressed with the soul-stirring speech of Moulvi Sahib Buwana, Yougindhar?s father now got the opportunity to brief him about the highly troublesome malady of his son and beseeched with folded hands to cure him through his art of exorcism.
In reply to his pitiable entreaties, Moulvi Sahib said straightaway that: ?indeed I knew and practiced previously the job of exorcist but my spiritual teacher has forbidden me to engage myself in such a business as it involved both lying and mixing up with the women folk (which is strictly disallowed in Islam). However, so far as my opinion goes your son is not afflicted with any sort of witchcraft but he is suffering from the wrath and scourge of Allah, the Almighty. You have a fair chance to heal him up as fortunately Moulvi Sahib (Moulvi Sidiqi Sahib) was coming here day after tomorrow, better you speak him personally on the matter. Hopefully your son will be ok. But you may have togive a pledge only that as and when he is healed up he shall have to revert to Islam?. Chaudhry Ji assured him confidently that: ?once he is free from this dangerous madness I will be glad enough to do every thing you wish?.

PUNISHMENT
On the appointed day (Tuesday) Chaudhry Ji reached Buwana again at 8 A.M along with Yougindhar. In due course of time, Moulvi Muhammad Kaleem Sidiqi Sahib too turned up there before noon. Completely nude and tied with chains Yogindhar was immediately presented before him. His father fell instantly on Moulvi Sahib?s feet and wept bitterly saying that: ?I had tried hard to prevent this mean fellow (from indulging in the sin of Babri Masjid demolition) but he was under the evil influence of some wicked person of Panipat and I could not prevail upon him?. Kaleem Sahib strictly forbade him from bowing before him and asked to narrate the whole story calmly.
When Mouvli Sahib was briefed about all the details of Yogindhar?s serious sins, he addressed his father politely and said: ?your son has committed a grevieous crime and a grave sin against the Almighty Allah. By razing to ground His house of worship (i.e the Babri Masjid) if in retaliation He destroys the whole world and punishes the mankind, it would be the right and just punishment. This is the minimum that your son alone has been taken to task by Him partially. Listen, we are all the servants of the same Master of Universe and in a way stand blamed for this grave sin (of demolition of Babri Masjid) because we did not fulfill our duty towards the breakers of this mosque as was demanded of us. Now things are beyond our reach. You should tearfully beseech forgivingness from Allah, the Almighty and we too will invoke Him for the same whole heartedly.?

CONVERSION TO ISLAM
We were those who hammered down Babri Masjid, and we are the ones who seek the pleasure of Almighty Allah by building mosques now. What we did was in a state of ignorance, what we are doing is a conscious act based on our faith in Creator. Where are those who revel in their hatred against Islam. Let them come and embrace it the same way we did. Sheen Meem Ahmed translates a soul stimulating story of Muslim converts

RECOVERY
Moulvi Sahib advised him, ?As long as we are engaged with the scheduled programme inside the mosques, you devote your full attention sincerely towards the Lord of Universe, seeking in particular his forgiveness?. He also instructed Chaudhry Ji to pray in these words: ?O Master! My troubles and afflictions can?t be removed from me by anyone else excepting you?. Yogindhar?s father fell again on Moulvi Sahib?s feet telling that: ?had I been of any use in the eyes of the Master, I should have not been live to see these unfortunate days. Since you are nearer Him, you can do what is needed to cure my son.? However, Sidiqi Sahib convinced him by saying that: ?you are here for medication, therefore, do what I suggest.? Saying this all the disciples including Moulvi Sahib went inside the mosque, offered their prayers, listened to Sidiqi Sahib?s brief speech and invoked at the end the blessings of Allah, the Almighty. At this opportune time, Moulvi Sahib asked everyone present there to do the special prayers for relief and remedy of Yogindhar. When all this was over, they took their breakfast collectively inside the mosque.
As the congregation came out of the mosque, instantly Yogindhar?s senses were restored to such an extent that all of a sudden he took away turban from his father?s head and wrapped his naked body with it. At once, he began to converse with him normally. All the onlookers surrounding him were visibly gladdened to see this entire incredible thing happening.

RECITATION OF KALIMA
Imam Sahib of Buwana too felt glad tremendously. Without loosing any time, he plainly reminded Chaudhry Ji then and there to observe his promise and pledge of Yogindhar?s reversion to Islam in the event of his recovery. He also forewarned him that, ?The one who has cured your son may cause him face again such a worst condition and may be worst than madness, should you dishonor your commitment?. He accepted his call to Islam readily and said to Imam Sahib that, ?My seven generations are indebted to you. I cannot repay this beneficence throughout my life. Since I am loyally obedient to you, whatever you wish me to do I shall do accordingly and unquestionably.?
As it came in the knowledge of Moulvi Sidiqi Sahib that Imam Sahib has kept it as a pre-condition that in the event of Yogindhar?s recovery from madness he will be under obligation of reverting to Islam, it did not receive his affirmation, advising Moulvi Sahib that the condition imposed went against the demands of cautiousness (in calling some one to Islam).
While Chaudhry Ji led Yogindhar towards the mosque, he questioned his father as to where he was leading him. He straightaway said it: ?to revert to Islam?. Yogindhar volunteered to say his father: ?I will revert to Islam before you do and will be more than willing to reconstruct the Babri Masjid?. Both of them did their ablutions happily and recited the Kalima, the first compulsory step essential for reversion to Islam, in the mosque. After accepting Islam Chaudhry Ragubir Singh changed his name to Muhammad Usman and that of Yougindharpal to Muhammad Umar.

MIGRATION
Now as Muslims, they left with a deep sense of satisfaction for their village. They met the Imam of the small local village mosque in the first instance and disclosed him the news of their reversion. The Imam Sahib informed all the Muslims of the locality about this pleasant development. The sensational reversion to Islam by the father and son got wide publicity in and around the village and evoked great interest among the villagers. The Hindus were upset terribly with this ?shocking? news. Immediately some influential Hindus gathered in a meeting to chalk out their strategy in relation to this episode. The attendants resolved firmly to kill both father son duo during the night. One of the gentle individuals who attended the meeting informed the Imam Sahib about the plot. Subsequently, with the blessings and support from Allah, the Almighty they were secretly taken out of the village in the darkness of night. Now Phulat (Muzaffar Nagar U.P) was their place of residence.
