Panchayat Raj Institutions,A dreams of Rajiv Gandhi .Soz


GNS Jammu, Dec:  Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee President Chief & Former Union Minister Prof. Saifuddin Soz (MP) has said that Congress party is on the forefront to fully empower the Panchayat Raj Institutions in the state on the pattern of 73rd Amendment of the Constitution in order to make the Panchayats as effective institutions of local self government.
Prof. Soz said that the full empowerment of Panchayat Raj Institutions as per dreams of former Prime Minister  Sh. Rajiv Gandhi  is essential to make the Panchayats effective instruments of service to the people and to come up to the expectations of the people at the grass root level. He favoured that some honorarium should be paid to the Sarpanchs and Panches as they have to spend from their pockets to approach different authorities in the administration and government at various levels in connection with the problems of the people.
PCC Chief said that he would constitute a committee of party functionaries to monitor the implementation of eighteen centrally sponsored schemes and see the possibility of associating Sarpanchs and Panchs with the process of implementation of these schemes.
He informed the gathering that the Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has instituted  a committee at the national level for assessing implementation of these schemes and Shri Vilas Mutlambar-General Secretary AICC would coordinate at the national level.
Addressing a rally of the Labour Cell of the Congress party at Barnai Jammu today Prof. Soz said that Congress is a vibrant force in all three regions of the state and it stands guarantee for  unity and integrity of the state and to ensure equitable and balanced development of the all parts of  the state.
The rally was organised by PCC Labour Cell and attended by Senior leaders of party including S/Shri Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma, Minister R.S.Chib, Mula Ram- Ex-Minister, Vice Presidents Yash Paul Khajuria-MLC, S.Gurmukh Singh; General Secretaries Ravinder Sharma-MLC, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Smt. Indu Pawar-MLA, Smt. Kanta Bhan; Hari Singh Chib, Parkash Sharma, S.Manjit Singh-Ex Minister, Lal Mohammad Sabir-Ex Minister, S.R.Sudhir and Manmohan Singh.
Exhorting the partymen to strengthen Congress Party,  Prof. Soz said that the only way for this is to serve the people as has been said by Smt. Sonia Gandhi who has described politics as another name of service to people. He said that all partymen including ministers have to work hard in addressing the problems of the people and come up to their expectations  to further strengthen the party.
Referring to the various demands of the labour class raised by Chairman PCC Labour Cell Hari Singh Chib, Prof. Soz said that he would take of the demands with the Central Ministry of labour and sort out the genuine demands at the earliest. He described working class as the back bone of the progress of the country.

PCC General Secretary Vinod Sharma met Div. Com. Apprised about the problem of electric supply in Jammu city.

 GNS  Jammu , June 05:  A deputation led by PCC General Secretary Mr. Vinod Sharma met the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and apprised him about the problem of electric supply in Jammu city. Mr. Sharma said that there are long cuts in the electric supply in the urban areas of Jammu especially in Jammu East and Jammu West. He said that the children and old aged are falling ill due to long cuts in electric supply during scorching heat. He said that the scheduled fixed by the department for power cuts i.e three hours for metered areas and eight hours for non metered areas stands no were. There are long scheduled and unscheduled power cuts and people are facing great hardships. Divisional Commissioner Jammu gave patient hearing to the deputation and assured them that he will look into the matter personally and keep in touch with the concerned authorities for regular supply of electricity.
