Petitioner sent to JC for producing forged documents

GNS JAMMU, Dec : A petitioner, who produced fake documents in the High Court, was today taken into judicial custody on the directions of Justice J P Singh.
The order was passed in a petition filed by Haq Nawaz Ahmed, who submitted that he had married Ambika Thakur alias Aisha after her conversion to Islam and presently his wife was in the custody of Sunil Kumar Sharma. He sought directions for production of Aisha in the court.
During the course of consideration of the case, the original documents relied upon by the petitioner were examined. The marriage agreement produced by the petitioner to support his plea that he had married Ambika after her conversion to Islam, was shown to have been registered by KS Sethi, Munsiff.
However, upon enquiry from Registrar Judicial, it was found that there was no such Munsiff in the State Judiciary by the name of K S Sethi. Finding the registration of marriage deed to be fishy, the petitioner was asked to disclose as to where he had got the marriage agreement registered.
Upon this he stated that it was registered in Court of Munsiff Magam and this statement too turned out to be incorrect as no officer by the name of KS Sethi was functioning as Munsiff or Sub Registrar Magam. Accordingly, the petitioner was asked to show cause as to why he should not be proceeded against for producing forged documents in the court.
Advocate FS Butt appearing for the petitioner sought time to file written response as to why the petitioner should not be proceeded against. After hearing counsel for the petitioner, Justice J P Singh directed to list this petition on December 27, 2011 along with 561-A CrPC as requested and ordered that Haq Nawaz be kept in judicial custody till then.
