PCC Pays Rich tributes to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 21st death anniversary.


GNS JAMMU MAY 21 : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee in a meeting pays rich tributes to former Prime Minister late  Rajiv Gandhi on his 21st death anniversary today at PCC HQ Shaheedi Chowk Jammu.
Mr Dharam Pal Sharma Ex-MP & Senior Vice President PCC was the chief guest on the occasion. President  DCC Jammu Urban  Mr. Om Chopra, Ex-MLA presided over the function, which was attended by Senior functionaries of  PCC, DCC, BCC, frontal organization and cells.
Paying rich tributes to late  Rajiv Gandhi,  the speakers one after the other described Shri Rajiv Gandhi as a great visionary leader who lead the country towards the challenges of 21st century. They said it was the vision of Rajiv Gandhi that India has emerged as the leader of the World in information technology. They said, when Rajiv Ji talked about information and communication technology, the leaders of the main opposition party criticized him in side and out side the parliament because they could not understand the challenges of 21st century. It was because of his vision that whole World is looking towards India for addressing their problem of unemployment.
PCC leaders further said that to ensure constitution right to the people at the grass root level  Rajiv Gandhi has brought 73rd and 74thAmendments in the Constitution but it was unfortunate that this amendment did not take place in Jammu and Kashmir, even toady. They also referred to the lowering of voting age from 21 to 18 years to ensure participation of youth in the democracy.
They said it is Congress party whose history is full of sacrifices, which has the vision and talent of leadership to lead the country towards overall progress and prosperity. 
Praising the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress President Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, They said it is again Congress party which provided every citizen with legal right of information through Right to Information Act (RTI Act). They also  referred unique legislation of guaranting right to work through MNERGA.  
They also exhorted the partymen to take pledge on this occasion to follow the principal of Congress party and the path shown by great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad, late Indira Gandhi and  Rajiv Gandhi and strengthen the hands of Mrs Sonia Gandhi. They said the future of the country and Congress party is bright under the dynamic leadership of  Sonia Gandhi and  Rahul Gandhi.

Water mapping survey disappoints state planners

Tahir Mushtaq  GNS JAMMU, Mar 03: The much awaited water mapping survey conducted to find new sources of ground water in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has found that most of the water reserves are unsuitable for human consumption. Sources said that the remote sensing technology survey carried out by the government with the help of ISRO has found high level of iron and fluoride contents in the underground sources of water found in the state.  The report says that many of the newly found underground water channels have been found at inaccessible locations, which need sophisticated technology to extract, beyond the range of equipment what the engineers are using in the country at the moment.
