PDP President Mehbooba Mufti today visited the dargah of Hazarat Baba Hanifudin at Rathsuna Beerwa which was gutted in a fire incident recently


GNS Srinagar , July 22:: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti today visited the dargah of Hazarat Baba Hanifudin at Rathsuna Beerwa which was gutted in a fire incident recently. She was accompanied by Chief Spokesperson Naeem Akhtar and MLA Beerwa Dr Mohd Shafi Wani. The shrine is located on a plateu near Rathsuna at an isolated high point without any population around.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion there Mehbooba expressed deep sense of loss at the fire incident. She also expressed shock at the insensitivity of the government in its response to the tragic incident. She said shrines are the spiritual nerve centres of our society and we need to protect the legacy of tolerance preached by our sainst and seers. She said having come close on the heals of Dastgeer Saheb tragdy this incident and the attempt at damaging Khankah Faizpanah at Tral, these incidents demand a serious response from the government.
 Mehbooba said a project should be prepared for the development of the shrine tastefully in view of its location and its inspirational significance.
On this occasion the local MLA Dr Mohd Shafi announced a grant of  Rs 12 Lacs for reconstruction of shrine out of his constituency development fund.
The locals led by sarpanches Master Abdul Ahad Mir and Abdul Ahad Dar demanded an inquiry to find out the cause of fire. They also complained that not even an official had visited the site.

Water mapping survey disappoints state planners

Tahir Mushtaq  GNS JAMMU, Mar 03: The much awaited water mapping survey conducted to find new sources of ground water in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has found that most of the water reserves are unsuitable for human consumption. Sources said that the remote sensing technology survey carried out by the government with the help of ISRO has found high level of iron and fluoride contents in the underground sources of water found in the state.  The report says that many of the newly found underground water channels have been found at inaccessible locations, which need sophisticated technology to extract, beyond the range of equipment what the engineers are using in the country at the moment.
